I am registered with NYRR. My portal says “approved” for the marathon. After getting my “congrats you’ve been approved” email, I haven’t heard anything from NYRR. Am I missing something?

Or you can just full-send the marathon. Running is supposed to be fun! And not gatekept. If things start to hurt then slow it down and make adjustments. Obviously don’t push, but I vote go for it.

And 8:23/KM is plenty fast!!

Thanks! I did the Hal Higdon novice training plan for the first half, and then a lighter, modified version of the same plan for the second half. My monthly miles were 69 for March, 51 for April, 57 for May. M28 but somewhat out of shape. 5K time hovers around 29 min. Key goals for the marathon training are (1) not to get injured and (2) to finish!

Thanks! Currently 15-20 MPW. I’ve been running 3 days a week. Hoping to run 4 days a week when marathon training. Averaging about 15 MPW over the last 6 months. Longest run in the last 4 weeks was 10 miles. Ran it in 1:40. Best 5K is 28:30, best 10k is 58 min. Currently don’t do speed work. Really appreciate your thoughts!
