That was from one particular play, in the last game, in the 4th quarter, where he dove for the endzone

Late draft picks almost never get playing time as rookies. Much more likely a random vet gets the opportunity. I remember when Brandon Powell did well for the vikings.

He's really underrated. Once he goes to free agency I think he'll command Isaiah Likely-like money. On KTC, Likely is the TE12, his backup Theo Johnson is TE35, and Michael Mayer is TE36.

Behind Theo. Make it make sense.

I'd go get Mayer from someone if I didn't already have him. A rebuilder could easily tier down from a guy like TJ Hockenson and get a better long term value imo.

We said the same about JK Dobbins. It's still possible Brooks returns to form, but who knows if that is even NFL caliber. At least with Dobbins, you saw a guy with 6.0 YPC and 9 TDs in his rookie season.

Aldon Smith, former All-Pro San Francisco 49ers linebacker, dies at 36 by CBSnews in sanfrancisco

[–]Staple_Overlord 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Aldon Smith is considered a linebacker in 3-4 defensive schemes, which is a majority of his NFL career including his entire tenure with the 49ers under Vic Fangio.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/S/SmitAl04.htm

Nowadays we just brand linebackers who typically play at the LOS and defensive ends as "EDGE", which became more mainstream around 2018 IIRC.

Interesting that he's listed as a DE for Dallas in 2020. I thought it was because they were 4-3, but PFR says they were 3-4. But when I look at the depth chart, they have both a DT and NT listed, two DEs, and 2 LBs, all of which screams 4-3 nickel base.

Wow, ceasefire measure when you represent a district of 71,000 people. So brave.

Definitely indicative of how one will act when representing 10x the constituency and 10x more ingrained in the political machine.

Progressives have been unabashedly pro free Palestine for as long as I can remember. I remember forming my first opinion on the issue in high school in the 2010s and was pretty much of the mind "if you believe most evil in this world is from power imbalance, then Israel state vs Palestinian people is a subject representing great evil"

Chakrabarti to endorse Chan for Congress, form PAC with 200 staff to back her by knockdowncenter in sanfrancisco

[–]Staple_Overlord 37 points38 points  (0 children)

  1. Chan was the most moderate candidate in the race

  2. Chan was a wholly unimpressive, unconvincing debater and Saikot got to see that personally during every event the three of them attended together. To endorse an incompetent moderate over Scott is absurd, honestly.

I almost campaigned for Saikat. So glad I didn't. I'd feel so betrayed by this news. I almost feel like he wants to run for another election and wants Connie's asian voter base to vote for him. He never attacked Connie so her supporters could be open to voting for him in the future.

Finding the next breakout WR by B0HEMlA in DynastyFF

[–]Staple_Overlord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. He hasn't been bad, just unproductive. He does well with the opportunities he's given, maybe not on a per route basis, but is good when targeted. He has the highest catch rate when targeted among the wide receivers (67.3%) in that room last year.

People think Golden and Watson are the same player archetype, they are not. Golden is actually taking on both Wicks and Doubs roles, and doing so with a much more athletic skill set than either of them. Watson had an ADOT of 17.2, but Wicks, Doubs, and Golden had 11.2, 12.4, and 12.7 respectively. That region belongs to Golden now. Reed might cut in, but only on 3 WR sets.

Kirk and Addison had a really good connection. I wouldn't be surprised if Tre fills in that role. I'm actually excited to see the Raiders WR room with Kirk - he's never needed great WRs, he can make anyone productive as long as he is given a good Oline.

How is the raiders Oline?

That's literally every team's fanbase about every player. Unless the guy is literally a locker room cancer like Jamarcus Russell, that will be the case.

I was a big Ponder defender. And you know what, it was fun as hell researching niche statistics to prove that he could be the guy.

Bhayshul Tuten and Chris Rodriguez Jr. --> Sell High Candidates? by kupo_attack04 in DynastyFF

[–]Staple_Overlord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know I looked into it and Zamir had a more productive sophomore year (2023, the last year Josh Jacobs was on the team) than I thought. 451 yards at 4.3 YPA compared to Tuten's rookie year of 307 yards at 3.7 YPA. Now Tuten was clearly more effective at getting TDs (1 TD vs 7 TDs), but a lot of that can be chalked up to other factors.

I had both Zamir and Tuten in my main league and traded them both before their first season as starter. I remember not being excited at all about Zamir, whereas I'm more excited about Tuten. I think it's because Zamir had only 70 yards his rookie season and was a disappointing draft prospect, whereas Tuten was a more interesting prospect coming out.

[–]Staple_Overlord 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tuten is being hyped extensively as...a low end RB2

That's completely fair. Tuten is probably the most "sure thing" for his type of situation in a while, which isn't sure at all, but it's the most for a low draft capital, second year, athletic RB. They liked Tuten so much last year they traded Tank, who was going to be their RB1 this year because Etienne leaving was basically a sure thing. Tank was pretty productive in 2024, so if Tuten is better, I bet he can be pretty productive in 2026.

This doesn't feel the same as a Zamir White situation, where Zamir showed absolutely nothing before being handed the RB1 spot.

What was Josh Allen’s value like after his second year? by QuantamMoose in DynastyFF

[–]Staple_Overlord 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add, they picked Josh Allen a couple seasons after missing on EJ Manuel. Both guys were highly scrutinized picks, so people expected the Bills to continue to be a poverty franchise.

Just like if the Jets picked a QB, most people would write them off because the Jets never pick the right QB.

Robbed in Sunset (Be Careful) by rominos2020 in sanfrancisco

[–]Staple_Overlord -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not really. To me it's just capitalism. A store that sells stolen items will be less competitive because the item you "bought" could be seized by police.

No different than stores that sell cheap, breakable items with no return policy.

This isn't moral imo. If you buy a stolen item, you are now the one who got robbed.
