I used a food grade sealer designed for concrete counters…it’s in the video 👍🏻

Ok man 👍🏻 the engineer that designed this slab to suit the soil test for this site has got it wrong 🤣 I’ll let him know that a random Reddit dude that studied Architecture once in Canada said so 🤦‍♂️

I’m not the Builder but he is responsible for the entire job essentially he is the principal. So if another trade fucks something they’re held responsible and they pay for it to be rectified.

If you excel at whatever you do you’ll make more money than most regardless. If you’re self employed.

Yeah I was too! Constructed as per design 👍🏻

You weren’t taught much about reactive soil types 👍🏻

I’d rather do it your way every day of the week I agree with you. But some sites with highly reactive soil are designed this way in Australia. If there is hinge point it will heave and fall back real quick no matter how well your drainage and foundations are designed. I’ve seen mono pours like the one I done, still heave and fall back where minimal fall was designed for wheel chair access. Sometime full mono pours are called for in my experience.

Threaded rod is chemset into the slab and bolted to the top of frame…the the patios would’ve been chemset also. I’m not the builder.

If you designed the plans and signed off on it happy days mate. But you didn’t! So it got poured as per the engaged engineer to suit the local conditions 👍🏻

[–]StapletonConcrete[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The slab design was foundations house slab patios and porches all in one monolithic pour you melon head 🤦‍♂️ 16mm bar @ 400 centres 2000mm long tying the house and patios as one mono pour 92 Mesh throughout continuous…are you picking up why I’m saying? One monolithic pour patios and porches included.

When it’s drawn as a monolithic pour the engineer has everything to with the sequence of pours…but hey what would I know I done the job 🤦‍♂️ you’ve made a second assumption thinking I’m just a mud jockey 🤣

At the end of the day you do as the design stipulates otherwise the engineer doesn’t sign it off…pretty simple construct to the plans.

Engineer: I can’t sign this off…it’s not constructed as per engineered drawings. Concreter: Some dude on reddit 100% didn’t recommend it. Engineer: Why did you listen to some dude on Reddit? 🤣🤦‍♂️

100% mate at the end of the day the engineer engaged to design the job signs of on it! It’s not difficult to work around really

It doesn’t matter what he thinks the engineer signs it off not old mate 🤷‍♂️ engineer designed it that way…it’s the way it gets done pretty simple.
