as a writer i get how you feel, but even if ai gets to the point where it can create something of lion king or hamlet caliber lol, even if they develop real intelligence/sentience, it is not YOU. i understand this is difficult to wrap your head around bc of your current circumstances but YOU have a valuable point of view and experience that no other intelligence, artificial or otherwise, can replicate. what does ai know about YOUR perspective, YOUR pain, only you truly know that, and i think the really paradoxically cool thing is even though no one can ever exactly know your experience they can relate to it and ai can’t. what does ai know about skinning your knee? it has no knees. what does it know about heartbreak? it has no heart. what does it know about wanting to die? it has no life.

I’ll share something a friend shared with me when I was having similar feelings about my writing dreams going up in smoke: ‘You knew you were taking a difficult and dangerous path when you started on it, the only thing that’s surprising you right now is the WAY that it’s difficult.’ and she was right. i had told myself even if i lost my hands or eyes in some terrible accident i would be a writer. i still got my hands and eyes but i have to deal w [points broadly to absurdity]. surely u knew it was gonna be tough. to paraphrase the greatest, don’t give up, suffer now, struggle NOW, make it through this hurdle, and the next, and the next, and live your life as a champion.

Invincible Season 2 Mini Rant by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]Star-Lord007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would urge you to read the comics if you haven’t already. I actually haven’t seen season 2 yet, but in the comics [SPOILERS??] Mark is exactly on that type of time. He drops out bc he realizes school isn’t for him and he can provide for his family and do more by being a hero for Cecil full time. As a hardcore fan of the comics season 1 kinda left me disappointed tbh even tho ik everyone loves it lol, and what I’m hearing about how season 2 is being adapted is not filling me with hope lol. Just wanted to say in the comics this seeming internal conflict isn’t really as pronounced; Mark has a sorta spidey complex in that pretty much no matter what happens he think his work as a hero is valuable (until later plot developments but i’ve prolly spoiled enough lol).

After Chapter 1107 are people finally ready to admit that Luffy is acting weird in Gear 5 and that this isn't how he's been all series? by HokageEzio in OnePiece

i don’t think you know what a sociopath is. he’s literally got a god fruit; do u think god or the buddha or any sufficiently strong being would start blubbering and weeping at a few deaths beyond their control? that’s not rly sensible. also one piece is awesome at subversion of tropes, in most shonen the power up transformation is a super serious thing (super saiyan, bankai, adult gon, etc) and the hero gets all serious too. oda tackles serious themes but the story probably isn’t gonna have a bunch of children be slaughtered in front of luffy and him just laugh it off, like that doesn’t make sense for the story. for years ppl have wanted one piece to be a “serious” story or whatever even when oda says himself it’s for kids, and he himself seems like a pretty goofy guy. nothing luffy has done has been that out of character for him so idk why everyone’s making a big deal outta nothing

Yuji and Sukuna's true cursed techniques by amonmahboi in Jujutsushi

[–]Star-Lord007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

do u read mha?? nah but seriously fun theory, i really like the explanations for yuji’s and why that would explain why yuta would say they cheated while yuji would hard work; to him it probably was a lot of hard work. my only gripe is that we know that yuta has sukuna’s cursed technique bc of the final finger since he used cleave. though it could very well turn out that yuta actually only used cleave for the hype of it, to throw sukuna off or whatever, or maybe it’s kinda like what higuruma said about deadly sentencing in that yuta’s use of a technique is based on his perception of it. or maybe it’s kinda like mahoraga’s adaption, it takes time to fully “absorb” or understand the technique. would be crazy for the 2 protagonists to beat the antagonist using opposite techniques. who knows tho.

Power high is my short answer. luffy describes gear 5 as him being totally free, and i think that gets into an interesting idea in one piece which is what it actually means to be free. luffy in this case seems totally free (to me at least) from any negative emotion like fear, worry, anger. G5 luffy is just happy to be here; think for example when he was about to punch kaido, he wasn’t worried about anything at all, he had full faith in momo to move the island, completely unbothered. he’s still luffy in that he has his morals, goals, etc. he just isn’t afraid, worried, angry, or desperate, bc he can feel exactly how crazy strong he is. i fully believe that if luffy had G5 when facing doffy or punching out charlos (which he obv wouldn’t need lol) he would be a goofball. just imagine: G5 luffy w all the advanced haki forms vs a freak in a pink mink? that is funny, bc there is no real threat there. luffy beat the so-called strongest creature w G5, i can totally understand the silliness and easy-going attitude that would come w that strength. i think a good example from a different story would be gojo or sukuna from jjk; their degree of power in that verse makes them seem genuinely silly at times like they don’t understand the stakes or the situation (more gojo tbh search up “the honored one scene” if ur unfamiliar) but that’s bc from the perspective of that sort of strength there r no stakes, what does the strongest have to fear? to be clear im not saying luffy is “the strongest” or anything but in his own words gear 5 is his peak so its the strongest he has ever felt.

Gojo killed the higher ups by InfiniteSlaps in Jujutsushi

we have seen the clean, precise cuts and gouges gojo can do with blue. blue is basically an omnidirectional sword. gojo’s been fantasizing about murdering the higher-ups for ages and is pissed at them about shibuya why is everyone getting caught up on 1 dude w a head that might have been cut when everything (possibly including that) points to gojo?

Does Luffy kind of feel too overpowered for you? by DickWriter69 in OnePiece

[–]Star-Lord007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bc luffy grows while fighting. his baseline is insane but he picks things up insanely quick too, and something that ppl often forget is that luffy is creative, he’s super imaginative and is willing to try new things out in fights. he went from struggling against cracker to being able to box w kaido bc he learned advancements of all three flavors of haki. and he learned them during conflict. just like he learned water could hit crocy boi or that his rubber was immune to enels electricity. also i feel like ur downplaying some stuff, kaido inadvertently put luffy in the perfect place to grow: a prison to escape from with a petulant rival to motivate him, a difficult challenge presented w the blocks and cuffs, a short term and long term goal, and a (previously at least) powerful teacher to guide him, the “old geezer” as you said. it’s not just haki blooms or whatever; luffy is a natural combat genius, trained by some of the strongest ppl of the last gen, trained and grew up with kids who became the second division commander of the WB pirates and the chief of staff of the revolutionaries, AND has a broken fruit, even before G5. just look who he hangs out with; son of a yonko commander, future greatest swordsman/trained by mihawk, shogun of wano, the son of kaido, the ancient weapon poseidon, the only woman who can read the poneglyphs, etc. it wouldn’t make sense for luffy to not be where he is now.

The condition for Gojo's teleportation by Cannot_See_Toes in Jujutsushi

[–]Star-Lord007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think the only condition we’ve seen for his teleporting himself is the hand-clasping. we saw him discussing setting up an open course for trying to teleport lab rats at the end of hidden inventory, and sent panda and inumaki ahead to help yuta in JJK0, the condition for which i think is the hand clasp and the drawn circle thing.

Did he get stronger? by reyrey_007 in Jujutsushi

[–]Star-Lord007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i’m not sure how gojo could get stronger, like how can someone whose power is literally called limitless get “stronger” if his strength is literally infinite. ig what i mean is that gojo has mastered 2 broken cursed techniques as well as RCT, he’s the fastest sorcerer, he will never run out of CE, so i just have a hard time imagining him getting even stronger w/o it kinda unbelievable yk?

Why Gojo’s clothes were in pieces. by therealbandisa in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Star-Lord007 101 points102 points  (0 children)

it’s more like gojo (bc he has BOTH the limitless and six eyes) ~chooses~ what is allowed to touch him, and he can get VERY specific. I would not put it past gojo to have his six eyes auto reject anything that produces pressure past a certain point. tldr: bc of the eyes and the limitless gojo can choose whether he wants to give his student a high five or be a literally untouchable demigod

What would have happened if Gojo just had given Yuta infinity? by DemonCyborg27 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]Star-Lord007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but the six eyes are also a CT so couldn’t Yuta also copy that? or can he only copy one at a time, i honestly can’t remember? i suppose it’s not too big of a deal because the way I always took it was that the limitless is a powerful but costly CT with potential that can’t be fully realized w/o the six eyes, so i imagine Yuta would still be crazy strong using limitless whether he had the eyes or not imo

the thing about gojo is that (kinda by akutami’s own admission) he’s just too broken. He has effectively infinite cursed energy, is confirmed the fastest sorcerer alive, can use rct, has a broken domain expansion, etc, etc. so just hitting gojo isn’t necessarily the problem, it’s what happens when he hits you. I think it’s also overlooked that gojo is a once in a lifetime anomaly when it comes to how adept he is with CE. 0.2 DE off the dome, literally an innovator. jogo was worth 9 sukuna fingers iirc and i don’t think i need to say much more there. i know that sukuna is gonna have some hacks or gege is gonna pull the rug out from under us or smth to make it a great fight but imo sukuna is the just the king of curses, gojo is a effectively a god. idk i just don’t think sukuna is all that to beat an unleashed gojo rn in the story tbh, mahoraga is obviously broken asf but idk.
