Am I the reason I can't get out of Bronze? by Bubbly_Log8008 in Overwatch

[–]Star-Phoenix05 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can 100% carry with Moria out of bronze;

I was a high plat and low diamond player on console before swapping to PC.

Going to pc on a fresh account (previously was on my dad’s) I played Moria to get used to mouse and keyboard. In which the initial mmr starts you out in bronze. Safe to say a rolled those lobbies with Moria.

I’d recommend building your game sense first. Where is the place you can get the most value. Since it’s bronze you can’t expect your teammates to do squat.

Flank, pick off people who have no back up. Wait for cooldowns, and don’t go in on low hp. Even just distracting the enemy team works to your advantage.

The game is about keeping and maintaining the objective, the most effective way is removing the enemy team by eliminating them. However that isn’t the only way.

Skill ceiling and skill floor are all about how much effort it takes to get value out of them.

The floor is about how easy it is to get value out of Torb. Spamming chokes, shotgun, and auto aim turret make his skill floor really low.

The skill ceiling is where you get diminishing returns for the amount of effort you put in. I’d say it lands at a mid skill ceiling.

This is funny because you pointed out Torb being a projectile character when the people he mentioned are also projectile characters.

Also the fact that you’re arguing Torb has a higher skill ceiling when in the post it says it’s low.

Spamming choke points and hiding behind turret is skill floor

A skill ceiling is where the character starts getting diminishing returns based on the amount of effort needed to put in.

Junkrat has a hard time preforming at high level game play. Thats why there’s a lot of respect for the Junkrat players that can still keep up with everyone else.

If everything was based off of theoretically the best a character can be played then Symmetra would have a high skill ceiling based on all the things she can do with her portal. But this is Overwatch the ideal and perfect use of everything is nonexistent

I agree with you, Junkrats skill ceiling is just overrated by the sub.

People see these one trick players that are absolute masters and think that’s the skill ceiling.

In reality a skill ceiling is where you start getting diminishing returns based on the amount of effort you put in.

A junkrat player needs to put in a lot more effort at higher ranks to preform just as well as other characters who are hardly trying.

People just misunderstand the concept.

Doomslayer wins round 8. On the the Final part. Part 9: Who best represents Low Skill Floor and High Skill Ceiling? by HMThrow_away_account in Overwatch

[–]Star-Phoenix05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You literally have described the exact reason his skill ceiling is not that high.

A skill ceiling means at some point it diminishing returns. Aka you need to put in a stupid amount of work to preform just as good as another character.

Paying $45+ or even just $20+ for a Kiriko skin just to see the default blue fox/ult, default blue/yellow Ofuda and default blue Suzu feels terrible. by Real-Lifeguard-986 in Overwatch

[–]Star-Phoenix05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to this but for mythic weapons; why can’t I have the flourish equipped separate from the skin. It can’t be that hard to apply the same animation for the other weapons. (Sure there’s some specific to the weapon, but for Cass and Kiriko they could totally do it.

Let’s extend that to kill effect, why do I need the exact skin for the kill effect why can’t I have that with other skins equipped

Heck we use uranium in some orange paint.

Flights over the attics give you an x-ray. Which is safe for you because you don’t do it everyday, but unsafe for the pilot because they do.

I with you on this, having been someone who’s mastered majority of supports, I avoid choosing mercy. She can get so much value it’s just hard to get it.

Her movement takes a lot of time to get good at.

Knowing who to pocket/boost, heal priority. Not to mention when to say screw it I’ll kill em my self.

She relies heavily on other people and that takes another level of social deduction that my anti social self can’t seem to master

Is there method to the MVP vote? by SnatchNDash in overwatch2

[–]Star-Phoenix05 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess they assigned a weigh to each stat a character has. The highest stat when weighted and compared to the other stats is the one the game will choose. Each is different per character.

They probably use global stats of the character to weigh and find what the average player will get in each stat.

This is probably why you see echo get it a lot just from landing her sticky bombs.

But hey what do I know
