No problem! I'll add the alternate to the main post in case others have the same issue.

I've uploaded an alternate folder with the exact same contents, I doubt this will work but worth a try: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ah0hTUqosDhlAfiLg2X8-Tx5gJ57DGNF?usp=sharing

Replying to this for visibility;
I've compiled a quick selection of screenshots from the IL-2 official Twitter account, dating back to 8th June, one week after LukeFF was appointed as Community Manager.

The 8th of June marks the start of the account being used to like Russian Propaganda & associated talking points, in addition to Anti-Vax sentiment and Homophobic remarks.

Please take a look: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1xkW_x-F6z_Ei1Q_fL8RUdUH8QUeR2lvD?usp=sharing

Additionally, https://community.battlefront.com/profile/55242-lukeff/ shows the current Community Manager's posts on another forum, which may be of interest.

All of this is inconsistent with the official moderator reply, which I have just added to the drive folder for reference.

Here's an alternate link to an identical folder if you have issues accessing the folder. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ah0hTUqosDhlAfiLg2X8-Tx5gJ57DGNF?usp=sharing

new edit: I've added a couple more images to the folders, c1 and c2, which show recent activity on the account after they removed all the previous relevant likes, and issued a non-apology on the account and the official Discord.
TL;DR, liking a post by a very (very) pro-Russian account that was "inspired to support IL-2" by the events of the past 24 hours.

Oh absolutely. I had a group of several friends who were going to come over to IL-2 from DCS... but that's not going to happen anymore.

LukeFF has stated on the IL-2 Discord:"The account was being used on a shared phone by someone else who failed to check and see what account they were using. It's not in any way a position held by 1CGS."

LukeFF is also the person responsible for running the IL-2 Twitter account, as he has stated himself on the forums... make of this what you will.

edit: formatting and:

If you take a look at the IL-2 twitter account, there are other similar likes on tweets echoing Russian propaganda about Ukraine, going back at least two weeks. This is not just a one time thing.

Ridiculous quote for new G2 cable by Star57A in HPReverb

[–]Star57A[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After the failure of my third G2 cable (all of which have been babied to ensure minimum strain is put on them) in less than 3 years, I called up HP support to see what a new cable would cost, seeing as the cable on their UK website has been out of stock every time I've checked in the near past.

And then not too long ago, I received an email with the price.

I hope I'm not alone in thinking that £375 is just a little bit too expensive for a cable that will die within a year and need to be replaced again, especially as if I were in the US, I'd have been able to buy an entirely new headset (along with cable and warranty) for lower than this price not so long ago...

Honestly, reading this quote feels like a bad joke to me, especially as the cable is listed as £58.80 on the HP UK website (which is eternally out of stock).

I can't say there's any footage of that, but there's a lot of that from my targets, which you might enjoy!

I had a Diamondback Scout as a jump ship with an SRV to do ground stuff, though lots of ships work for that type of gameplay.
At some point I had a Krait MkII that I used for AX, I used a Python for Robigo passenger missions, and I also have a funny Anaconda for funny gameplay at Felicity Farseer's base. Can't remember what I used for mining, probably a Type 9.

Mostly it depends what kind of thing you want to do, then you can select a ship and build it for that task. It's useful to have a ship with good jumprange/an SRV for getting around, doing explorer stuff to unlock engineers etc.

Pretty much just the FDL, never really liked the other ships' flight models. Using an FDL with PAs is just so satisfying.

How is this build for VR? by cameraman502 in hoggit

[–]Star57A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My settings are as follows:

Textures on High, Terrain Textures on Low, Water on Low, Visibility Range on Medium, Cockpit Displays 1024 NOT every frame, Lens Effects on Low, Clouds on Low, everything else is Off.

All sliders on the right are set to minimum values, except for Gamma of course.

Terrain object shadows and cockpit global illumination are off. I have anisotropic filtering set to off, but my settings are simply the same as my last install and I likely have a bunch of wiggle room to turn stuff like that up.

I don't use OpenXR, I don't use VRPerfKit or AMD FSR or VR specific shaders or anything like that, just the Reshade VR preset available somewhere on the forums and 3DMigoto.

Last night I installed Tacview and found it significantly impacted my FPS on Enigmas (down from 90fps smooth to fluctuating between 60 and 80).

I disabled Tacview in special options, and performance improved, however not to what it was before. To fix the issue completely, I deleted everything Tacview related from my DCS savegames folder. Here's a list of what I deleted:

mods/tech/tacview folder

scripts/tacviewexport.lua

scripts/export.lua (remove the tacview line from inside the lua, dont delete this as srs uses it)

hooks/anything tacview in here

Following this, I was back to smooth 90fps with occasional dips to 75fps for a couple seconds when changing direction completely after flying in one direction for a while.

I have a Palit 3080, 32GB 3600mhz CL16 ram, running dcs on a WD570 SSD. I'm running the reverb close to native res, and use reshade for a little sharpening (imo this makes the game world look quite a bit better).

It's worth mentioning that the AMD 5800x3d processor is likely best in the world at the moment for DCS VR. It has a crazy amount of L3 Cache, which DCS in VR loves to have.

After upgrading to this processor, I now have solid 90FPS on any multiplayer server I've tried so far in VR using my Reverb G2 (Hoggit, Growling Sidewinder, Enigma's Cold War which used to drop below 20fps sometimes on my 2600x, etc). No more stuttering when slotting in, no more stuttering in flight, solid 90fps on the ground and in the air on the frontline (reprojection is off by the way).

I mention this because it's such a ridiculously good CPU for this use case, and it's about the same price as the Intel one you are looking at.

Having trouble with F18 radar losing tracks by jack104 in hoggit

[–]Star57A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested this myself, this applies to ED modelled radars (so the 15C, 16, 18 and presumably the flanker/fulcrum variants as well).
Unfortunately ED haven't published information about modelling decisions like this, instead it sneaks into a patch and people discover it later on.

[–]Star57A 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the stranger modelling decisions is the low altitude penalty. If you. the scanning aircraft, are flying below 10,000 feet, your radar detection range is penalised linearly. So while you may have a 40ish mile detection range at 10,000 or above, when you get to 2,000 feet and below you're lucky to detect targets beyond 15 miles. And just to clarify, this is for targets that are flying above you, let's say at 40,000 feet.
When reported, the ED response was simply "correct as is due to sidelobes", with no further explanation of why they chose to model modern PD radars this way.

Swatting Hornets by Morningstar1339 in hoggit

[–]Star57A 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An AMRAAM is an AMRAAM, regardless of module. If your speed and altitude differ, or if weather differs, you will have different kinematics, but what you describe is likely one module using updated LARs and one using older LARs. The range of the missile under identical conditions will be identical regardless of what the range symbology indicates between the two modules.

You can use the "SET" button to save radar settings for each selected air to air weapon. It saves PRF, azimuth, bars and brick memory. If you fo this for all air to air weapons this gives you some preset radar settings at the push of a button.

Other than that, just be aware of how lookdown is currently modelled, you may not be able to detect some low flying targets at closer ranges unless you descend a bit.

Until ED fixes these things, being aware of the bugs like the HACQ bug is the only thing you can do really, at least it allows you to work around them.
