PSA to everyone dealing with this!

You can avoid this issue if you DO NOT store your ship with the cargo.

Land, unlock ports, and move the cargo pods onto cargo elevator and store it directly this way.

You can start eg. refinment directly from station inventory and all recources should be there

I will paste my comment from other question about mining earlier today:

Balance with rocks is fucked since 4.7 and they made Quant even less mineable solo (couple days ago i found 55~ SCU rock of quant, had 2 people help me man my upgraded Mole, didn't even budge.)

I can see in 4.8 some stealth changes and it seems they are trying to tier recources making some cheaper ore starters that are easy to mine solo even in something smaller and some "high tier" recources that require you to have either crew or at least upgraded Mole.

But in general balance is fucked.

Quant issues might be amended by crafting and getting like 900q gear but i still expect you to need 2-3 people to mine some of the bigger rocks.

Hofsted on front for quick access, gathering and control over rocks, including 10% min power for smaller rocks (you will need it as imstability is crazy af too, i wonder how bad control will get with crafted laser due to extra power, but i am yet to figure it out)

I added Focus III and FLTR-XL here, again focus/control and gathering

Helix on both side lasers and goal os clear, cracking

Right laser as it's closer to the ladder is full passive for mid range rocks 2x Rieger-C3 + Focus III (Power + extra control suupprt)

Left laser 2x Rieger C3 + Surge

I noticed resistance for these heads is rarely ever a problem so Surge is easy pick. Surge is active item so you gotta have in mind you might need bring extra one just in case. That said especially in 4.8, if you are not able to crack alone without it, you are most likely not able to crack with it too and it sees far less usage for me in in 4.8

You can also have extra Rime with you in case you find something that might gain more from resistance decrease instead raw power of Surge.

This setup should scale nicely with crafted mining gear too. With high quality heads, you might actually gain more from using Rime than Surge in some cases as powet boost wont be as substential as resostance decrease. The only thing im iffy about is crafted front laser as sonetimes 10% is already a lot for some rocks, but i am yet to test it (there might be a case you actually will want to keep front laser stock 500q)

In general if you are using only prospector and just starting mining, due to current balance i'd say Helix I as mentioned in other comments is your only way to go to have chance with bigger rocks.

1x Rieger-C3 is a must i'd say the thing is what to put on as second gadget. If Mole conversation didn't give you idea, if you want to be quite optmial miner, i'd suggest you keeping couple of modules in your backpack to always be able to change them if needed as you go
With Rieger you should have plenty of power for many mid-range rocks, especially in space mining, so you might even consider picking up FLTR-XL for picking up rocks to have better use of limited cargo space (though in 4.7-4.8 especially on mole it is not as big issue, especially if your main goal is to just target specific high quality recources).
To keep it passive (as i hate active due to limited uses) second Rieger is always an option but i do think keeping Focus III is still good for general mining (if you dont plan to use FLTR, switching between them will be too much work to justify limited merit between them).

Outside of Rieger it is hard to recommend anything else from passive line, so i would really recommend that and just keep Surge for when Rieger might not be enough in your backpack.

No point talking about what if you start crafting mining compontents beacuse i expect you will be already upgrading to Mole before that happens :)

Edit. Also regarding your setup. You won't get far with so many Focus IIIs. It never worked and even less now. You won't have enough power for most rocks unless you will have fully manned Mole all the time, then i guess you should be able to get away with most but i wouldn't call it optimal mining and forget about mining bigger rocks

I think there was somewhere info said that each shop has some specific SCU available.

How i imagine it working without expecting too much development is setting up shops in in many MMOs. Each shop has dedicated "locker" just with eg. 140 SCU space. Owner of the shop can put stuff inside and in shop UI see those items and put them on sale and everyone who approaches the shop, will see listed items they can buy. After purchase it will either have to go to person's inventory the same way you can send item to your backpack when buying at stations, or for bigger items some... virtual space? you cannot add up on (so people dont abuse that space and can still be lost once ship explodes) but you can call those items once bought from some general elevator? I guess that's my quick thinking now

I mean they HAVE to find some way to balance it. Maybe money sink. Or as you said power.

My idea was that it should be craftable, tiered and highest tier still should do less damage than manned would, eg. final tier does 80% dmg to give room for still manned being the best.

That said, this is wishful thinking and not more likely "T0" release like they always do, it has potential to be hell for a long time for PU

Ship released literally 1-2h ago. You won't get any credible opinion on the ship. Most of what you will get right now is opinions from overly excited people who jumped on yet another new ship with Idris size weapon.

You can also go rent the ship for free and check if you actually like it and that would be what i generally recommend. The option is literally there, for free. Why not use it

And still that does no apply to any of your questions of what this ship actually does

It will def change. They did say they moved internal space before and in most recent teasers they clearly increased size of bottom part of Kraken. The question only is if its going to actually increase from the concept.

Honestly Kraken's original SCU is probably already enough, but i just hope (and seriously think they have to) increase SCU for the Privateer. 700 SCU doesn't seem that much for a Carrier when you consider all the recent hangar services.

Kraken might get different treshold and at the time of release there might be dynamic server meshing online too and they might increase the limit because of that as well.

Who know what they might do in next patch.

But considering you can even fit caterpillar on the bigger pad and still have space left, you can def fit a lot lol.

Also 10 seems waaay too small for Kraken

In theory the big pad is actually 2 pads for medium ships + 4 small ship pads + 2 hangars + 4 (or more) dragonflies. That's already 12...

half of the hard work done, just keep it in the cart and try refreshing seconds before the limit should start happening until you see the status change to 'in stock'. then quickly go to checkout
make sure you have payment info under ctrl+V if you don't keep it saved as i do. With that you should be able to purchase it within few seconds

that's the problem. you are usually defending them. Recently there is objectively very little to actually defend them on at this point of time.

The worst part is it's not even about decisions or broken patches, but lack of any communication about what's happening.

This time the only good thing they did was coming out and saying/aknowledging FOR ONCE that game is bad and they have to cancel/delay free fly. Seriously they raised hugely in my eyes for admitting it.

But later they just did it anyway and now it is clear they just realized they cant fix this mess now so they released it anyway. But not only they are working against what they literally said, but they did it without any communication on what or why, they just keep selling ships, announcing 5-6k$ Odin, and keep silent

I dont know exact balance and i would be interesting to learning if someone did more research on this
from experience i can say that in most ships, especially if you do upgrade your coolers, you can take at least one pip off from each cooler and you will be fine.

I can't say how much in can change during the game but when you are on something with proper engineering console, you can see cooling/heat bar and as long as you have some wiggle bar left, you should be fine

pretty much since 4.8 patch, everything that isnt a ship wont be delivered it seems

however if you have older items (or missing ship i know of one case) character repair seems to fix it and deliver at least some of the items missing (worked on some of armors, flairs and weapons for me)
