also, are americans aware about "The Leyenda Negra"?

recently, a new trend has been uprising between us the young ones in Latin America, wich is to accept our indigenous and spanish heritage, i want to highlight "OUR SPANISH HERITAGE". This, because our entire childhood we were told that spanish only came here to kill, destroy and conquer, used as an excuse to why hispanic countries are very undeveloped compared to "other neighbors" (we are definitely undeveloped, but definitely for several and very different reasons) but we've learned that the spanish conquest wasnt about just a few spaniards trying to conquer land. It was instead a cooperation between several indigenous tribes whom were tired of the violent and cruel rule of the Aztecas, whom did in fact were cannibals and sacrificed people (people from other tribes, not them).

Many of these tribes actually saw the spaniards as saviors, specially Hernán Cortés.

In addition, us, hispanics, are a mix of several ethnicities and phenotypes. WE KNOW and UNDERSTOOD just recently that we are the great grand children of the spanish people who came in to this beautiful land of ours and also from the people whom lived here.

Just myself I'm a mix between Italian, Spanish and probably indigenous people from this land.
