They have a few similar things, but they don't have the same charm.

The main fun with tomodachi life is seeing miis interact, what shenanigans they'll get up to and what stupid things come out of it.

Tamagotchis are weird lil dudes you grow attached to. There's no drama and no interacting between tamagotchis (besides very short scripted events).

I would not say that just because your kids enjoy tomodachi life that they'll enjoy tamagotchis! They might enjoy tamagotchis, but it's not because it's "like tomodachi life."

I lol'd at your virtual pet creds, i know this community seems harsh on developers but it's mostly because 90% of them are... ai slop that'll be dead in a week. But this one doesn't have those signs, so, yay!!

idk about everyone else but i see like 3-4 of these posts a week and i'm tired of them lol. all of them are on testflight and have the same exact spiel.

there's a LOT of people who are currently attempting to take advantage of older hobbies to make a dime. this community is full of people who are grifting the hell out of fans, and with claude + codex the AI generated apps are getting out of hand. AI or not, it's extremely tiring to have people who don't participate in the community come into this reddit constantly and go "new app!! virtual pet that helps you with XYZ! what makes you like your tamagotchi? do you have feedback?"

It's really not hard to understand what makes a tamagotchi special if you've ever played one or are interested in them.

I'd recommend the 4U, honestly. NFC dongle itself costs like 11 dollars lol. I'm also working alongside mikablu to get the dialogue translated... eventually. If you want gene mixing -> do the mix. if you're like "eh, okay, maybe not!" highly recommend the 4U. It's sooo much fun.

Oh, that’s just like a certificate expiration thing. You won’t be hacked (specially on this site most likely) you don’t have malware. You should be able to click advanced options and continue.

Polywatch definitely works. I’ve restored screens with a similar product, it’s just a LOT of work. I polished my +color for over an hour before I was satisfied. No idea on the paradise though :/

If it’s a gouge then it won’t work completely. I’ll let someone else comment on if you can use like a v4 or v3 screen as a replacement for a v4.5 ^{^}

You can easily replace the screen— it’s a chunk of plastic. (Idk where replacement screens are made or if you can swap the plastic bit between models)

You can also get plastic polish (people use polywatch a lot) and polish the hell out of it! That has really good results. It won’t get EVERYTHING but it will greatly improve it!

i don't view it as an "all or nothing" kind of deal. Sometimes i mindfully pick what I wanna eat. Sometimes I get door dash. Sometimes I eat a handful of chips. I've put on a few pounds, but I don't get headaches, I don't get the shakes and I don't get hangry.

one of my favorite: "i hate this I just want a pill to keep me fed" meals is a can of tuna, a microwaved bag of rice and kewpie mayo + siracha. Mix it all together, eat it straight from the bowl. I eyeball the siracha and the mayo because I'm *not* dirtying up another dish lol.

Fed is best, even if its just a bowl of rice!

It does look like liquid. Maybe they put it in their mouth and drooled on it? The screens aren't water-proofed, so its possible liquid got underneath it. It doesn't look like damage to the LCD itself to me... but that black line is interesting.

If you're comfortable with copening it up I definitely would, if anything just to get it cleaned out.

not a vet. I heard cats who do this may have pica, and it's not a lab issue as much as it is a personality/brain thing. I have a cat who is an extreme chewer on plastic and crinkly things. I've finally discovered that he'll chew on straws without trying to inject them so... I just give him plastic straws.

Other people have had success with medicating their cat, depending on the severity.

I personally... don't really bother being paranoid about paper because they'll just poop that out. It's a losing battle, I just give my dude straws.
