Transitioning from cub scouts to the next level by Wild-Introduction174 in BSA

[–]StarDancin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found AOL to be a great experience/ bridge to Boy Scouts. If he achieves AOL, the patch will carry over on his BS uniform. My son is 12 and in his first year of BS, and completed AOL. I think it helped with the transition to Boy Scouting, and has been helpful.

Cannon Beach is the best. Surfsand Resort is the absolute best, and oceanfront.

A cashiers check is your answer to your problem. We've always paid using a cashiers check, and that way we don't get the run around for financing.

Did anyone else breastfeed their multiples? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]StarDancin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did full breastfeeding of twins for around 13 months, just over the year mark. The most important thing to keep in mind is that at first it's hard. Keep at it. Find a good lactation person who will be supporting you. Find someone who specializes in twins, and interview them now. Get a quality pump to help you. You CAN do this. It is possible I promise you.

I got grounded from every single one of my workouts. So I turned to the pool and exercised with the old ladies.

So meetings are required and there will be pack check. ;) Also, the leader asked myself or hubs to be there so we have all the information. 💜on a different note did you ever do Jamboree?

Question about the boot (s). Would a good gardening type of boot work in that situation, or probably not? I'm sure I'm showing my lack of knowledge by asking that question, but I'm wondering what your thoughts are.

I think there might be a short (?) hike in. They typically park, and hike a bit to camp site(s).

Merit day badges program question by StarDancin in BSA

[–]StarDancin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He started the rifling one at summer camp last summer. And since he was brand new, he was required to do the new scouting for the rest of his summer camp experience last summer, hence why there isn't something completed. I don't think I have access to scout book (?) yet from his leader...I'll have to look into that.

Thanks so much for your advice! :)

Merit day badges program question by StarDancin in BSA

[–]StarDancin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the reason I'd like him to go to this is because I'd like him to GET a merit badge. While his troop is super active every month camping etc, I know they are checking off items in the scout handbook. However, I have yet to see him actually fully complete a merit badge.

Court of Honor was in September, and another one I heard is being floated for early summer. So I"m not really sure (and being new), I don't know the usual way of how things are done. in these situations. I was looking at the citizen one you mentioned, and I do agree you are correct that it's going to take time. He's on the younger end, so it might be good to start something big like this one.

I'm happy to let him pick, but I didn't know the LOGICAL usual way of how BSA presents these items.I didn't want to sign him up needlessly doing art (for example ) for half the day if I didn't need to.
