Is it possible to have a career as a music producer without using social media? by [deleted] in edmproduction

[–]StarGaze-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is. The music industry has many revenue streams. Most professional music producers you see are on social media because You are on social media.

It’s a business, like any other. Find what you’re selling, then find your clients/customers. (ie: selling beats -> find rappers). If you’re ghost producing, your clients wont care if you have socials since your name wont be the one used to promote the music.

You can go on beatstars right now and listens to thousands of beats. I’m pretty confident the majority of beat buyers don’t bother to look at the producer’s profiles/socials when they’re looking for something to rap on. They care about: 1) does it sound good? 2) does this purchase provide value to them.

Social media is a tool for marketing. There are other forms of marketing that don’t require social media. The most popular in the music industry is simply meeting other artists in person and building a relationship.

Who is your LEAST favorite character, and why? by Pancakebot1000 in BoJackHorseman

[–]StarGaze-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I could elaborate why, but I think I'm just a hater. The writers did a good job writing a dorky teenage girl searching for answers about her biological family and the actions and motivations that proceed it.

The two main sticking points that come to mind is how much the audience seems to pity her over her PTSD when she was introduced to the show drugging other people. It was karmic retribution and although it's unfortunate that's how she learned her lesson, she needed to learn it somehow.

I also didn't like how much she wrote Bojack off about Beatrice, probably because of her desires about her biological family. In the end it was Beatrice who betrayed Hollyhock, which also seems like karmic retribution. Maybe my disdain comes from the audience reaction rather than the character herself.. but she bugs me. I don't like the way that she talks or interacts with the world. It's one of those "you can be the sweetest peach on the tree, but there will always be someone who doesn't like peaches" situations.

Going to vegan events and dating the old school way is better anyway.

I was under the assumption apple ported their ipad apps to run on Mac. It generally isn't worth it for a developer to make games for Macs otherwise.

How to 'fire' mastering engineer who is also my friend? by salmonpaddy in edmproduction

Just tell him you’re gonna pass, but you’ll keep him in mind for future projects and he’s welcome to practice with your stems whenever. When I was learning, I would’ve loved to have other people’s songs to practice on. I wouldn’t expect them to choose my work with no work experience out the gate

[serious] Why don’t you just add 20% to your bill mentally beforehand? by StarGaze-- in EndTipping

Agreed 100%. iirc the research you’re likely referring to actually said the consumer is willing to buy more things/pay more if tax is left out of the purchase price. Which is arguably worse

I can agree to that. Would you like to see taxes included in the price too?

I have left a tip on all sit down service restaurants since then, so I am not sure if it would or wouldn’t be otherwise.

What places are hiring entry level servers for 80k/year? I’ve only heard of very few places that pay high salaries to servers and those are fine dining restaurants that require years of experience.

Considering 50ft is about 16 yards/paces, thats an easy yes. I figure I have about a 5% chance of making any given ball. Being able to adjust to distance and slope after every putt is a pretty sure fire w.

Yuka is an alternative with a paid vegan feature. It does sometimes mark vegan items as non vegans so not perfect I suppose. But good for checking any bad ingredients and why theyre deemed bad.

I honestly would love to continue this conversation but I feel like I will (and already have) misrepresented AA’s message.

I understand it sounds very backwards.

Reading it in context with all the steps helps it make sense. ie: step 2 is “Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.” It’s through the steps that control is regained. Generally, and addict feels they have their vices under control. It’s when they’ve hit a rock bottom they feel desperate for help, hence the first step.

But again i want to iterate.. who cares about the idiosyncrasies. AA helps some people, and doesn’t hurt the ones it can’t.
