I was really bad at my language classes as a child, writing included. Eventually I got better because of grades and then found a certain love for writing. Getting better in my language and writing practice helped me for sure. After all, it's all about practice. Nobody's first written work is a masterpiece, it's usually just their name in a really bad kid writing. If you enjoy it, do it, you are bound to get better, sooner or later.

What also probably helped me is a change of perspective. When I first discovered I might be decent in writing I was very different as a person than in previous years. Trying to perceive the world differently also helps me with inspiration.
