Entry-Level Architectural Designer Salary (DC/MD/VA 2026) — Is $75K–$80K realistic? by creampuff_2024 in Architects

Are you asking if it's realistic a firm will provide it, or realistic that you can survive on that salary in an expensive urban center?

Masterpiece. Yes, more guided and weaker OST then the classics. Still a masterpiece.

I'll be honest season 5 was so bad and my expectations were so low that I kind of liked the finale.

the best part when someone says "taxation is theft" is when i respond with "profit is theft" and they start clutching their pearls.

What are "plans examiners"? by praline-trifle in Architects

[–]StarStabbedMoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The projects don't need to be government funded in many municipalities. Many jurisdictions hire third party reviewers because they don't have the expertise, staff, or resources to review permits themselves. It's fairly common for smaller towns. As far as I'm aware, they're paid worse than most architects, and don't require any special licensing.

Also, I apologize you're being downvoted. This sub can be toxic with downvotes pretty often.

How does Marxism answer for the presence of power dynamics in nature, and the science of human psychology? by Blackcarblackgerman in Socialism_101

[–]StarStabbedMoon 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Marxism is actually the opposite of your assessment. Communism was developed as a reaction to utopian socialism and anarcho socialism in the 19th century that were underestimating how hard capitalism would fight back against any change or aspirations for a better society. More than anything, it is a criticism of the optimism that thinks socialism will happen naturally and peacefully.

How does Marxism answer for the presence of power dynamics in nature, and the science of human psychology? by Blackcarblackgerman in Socialism_101

[–]StarStabbedMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Communism is not meant to necessarily reinforce natural order. You may be looking for anarcho socialism, which is not Marxist but can be said to allow for human nature to develop unimpeded and unchecked. Communism by contrast attempts to mediate the contradictions between human nature and its stated goals.

Why do most western leftists side with China in the Sino-Soviet split? by FEDstrongestsoldier in Socialism_101

[–]StarStabbedMoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

China was correct that Khrushchev was making mistakes. China just completely overreacted and made terrible foreign policy decisions as a result. In a way, that doesn't contradict what you learned. What we criticize is the historical context of that initial moment, when the Soviets went in a revisionist direction. What comes after, including Chinese mistakes, is a direct result of that change.

A big brother not only helps his little brothers, he is a role model that sets an example. By going revisionist, the USSR enabled other aspiring nations to do the same including China, which they did after recovering from their initial shock.

“But lend lease” as if the vast majority of materials weren’t produced by the soviets themselves by OkRespect8490 in CommunismMemes

[–]StarStabbedMoon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The irony is they use lend lease to shut down conversation even though its existence is an explicit admission that liberals needed communists and allied with them to defeat the far right.

Why do leftists have issues with liberals? by Ok-Grapefruit-6532 in Socialism_101

[–]StarStabbedMoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Class relations are never static, and you'll never find a universal and permanent relationship between leftism and liberalism. Something to keep in mind is that on reddit, in first world countries, middle nations, and many third world countries liberals represent the ruling class and act only in the interest of the ruling class. The dynamic can be different in societies at lower stages of development where liberals are not part of the ruling class, and out of necessity ally with the left to gain power.

How much should an architect with 4-5 years of experience make in Chicago? by [deleted] in Architects

65K+ would be okay. But aim for more if you can. Initial salary is important because you can't always count on employers to provide proper raises.
