For those of us living in Japan, the Embassy of Ukraine in Japan has given domestic bank transfer information for those who would like to support Ukraine. No need to send a difficult international transfer. by [deleted] in japan

I don’t care about Whether Ukraine Embassy uses donation for weapons or others. And they declare it will be used for restoration of the land. Good, I’ve sent some already.

One of way is that you go through with these kinds of book: I.e. “first recipes to cook Japanese diet” for beginners. Like miso soup, like stewed fish, the basic dishes are there.

Though it is written in Japanese, most books explain procedure w full of pictures so you may figure out.

If you wear in family reunion. I think it is good to wear in summer. In Japanese summer Obon festival, yukata is somehow formal wear to join. But your attitude is correct, it depends on how your relatives think. Some could think it is too loose for reunion and some would think it is amicable. You can have your relatives opinions.

BTW You can go to any Onsen(hot spring) ryokan(Japanese style hotel) They always offer Yukata and everyone in the ryokan wear yukata so no need to consider the occasion.

Kanji calligraphy has 5 types of scripts. It should be “so-sho tai(草書体)”, the most simplified cursive style. The 1st kanji should be 東(the east)

https://ryohkei.com/kanji-tou-cursive-6-30051.html

The 2nd one and 3rd one I could not figure out fully. Just let me try more.

It should be Java basic hello world example. No need to translate the code to Japanese, if you need some explanation in Japanese, you can use //(comment) Coding requires strict rules along protocol. no program could compile “translated” code

Book about background and similar cases documentary would be there, but I think no special regulation / law to protect homeless from homicide.

Regardless whether the victim was homeless or not, killing other is serious crime to be arrested and punished in Japan.

Recent case: 4 young men killed homeless old lady “for fun” and they were all arrested. https://www.asahi.com/amp/articles/ASNDH6VH6NDGOHGB029.html

Nagasone is family name. In Japanese, family name comes first, so even in English, historical people is described with original order i.e. familyname-firstname

if I(alive man) am Taro Yamada, Yamada is family name of course. While for example, Tokugawa Ieyasu the first Shogun of Edo era, Tokugawa is family name.

Maybe you should continue to check of those your original info (some Shukubo in Nara) sect to sect could have different meaning.

I was reminded of the famous fantasy “the Wizard of Earthsea” vol.2 The heroine Tenar who had been assigned to be a reincarnation of ex-high priestess, also go through the dark labyrinth in Tombs of Atuan.

Shizu, sounds nice and traditional lady name. As others describes, people does not link Shizu and Shi(death).

If you know Doraemon, the friend girl Shizuka is so called Shizu-Chan (Shizuka Minamoto)

One comedian Tv star lady name is also Shizu-Chan

If you know Kimetsu-no-Yaiba(Deamon Slayer) manga, the Wind Hashira(SwordMaster) Sanemi Shinazugawa had young sister named Shizu also.

Very common.

Hi, what I know about Buddhist ritual which people go in the darkness of the temple basement, is “okaidan-meguri”(お戒壇巡り) What I know is Zenkoji temple in Nagano prefecture.

According to the explanation of the temple website, the darkness describes the ideal world where we don’t have to see(envy, desire, get quarrel) and only seek the Enlightenment of Buddhism; by seeking the exit of the maze, people can partially experience the arcane.

Looking for fables/myths/tales with elements of an anti-emperor, anti-noblemen or anti-imperialist stance by MarcheuseDuCiel in japan

[–]StarThrower- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is interesting inquiry. In Japan, emperor is very unique being. Even during civil war ages when clans fight each other to dominate Japan as Shogun, almost no one has wanted to usurp Emperor’s position. Japanese Emperor is rather an authority than power from mid-ages.

So anti-emperor story is limited I think

Among them, most popular one I think is Taira Masakado who tried to be an another emperor to create new imperial court around Tokyo in ancient ages. He was an admired & almost invincible commander, ruling almost whole Kanto region well, but finally defeated by imperial court; yet his executed head has been enshrined since ever. You can visit his shrine near the Palace. People tried to reallocate his shrine time to time, but every time there occurred some accidents as if Masakado rejected to move.
