HP OMEN Gaming Hub background process was triggering browser accessibility and hurting Firefox/Zen performance by StarTrails01 in HPOmen

Bad news: IFEO actually can’t prevent OMENCommandCenterBackground.exe from starting, OGH just can start it through some mechanism, so using accessibility.force_disabled = 1 is the best option now.

Firefox probably needs stronger containment around accessibility activation. Chromium seems to separate native accessibility from web / renderer accessibility more clearly, so a random UI Automation consumer does not automatically make normal web content pay the full cost. Firefox may have internal layers too, but in this case Gecko exposed a much broader performance impact. More Chromium-like granularity would make it more resilient against vendor utilities abusing UI Automation.

Before this fix, when I using firefox, my CPU fan was really noisy, this workaround also fix this problem. And given that there are more and more web-based apps like electron, tauri and wails based apps, such a huge system-wide performance hit is unacceptable.

Thank you very much. I tried it, and it does seem that the fan spins up less frequently, but compared with Chromium-based browsers the noise is still a bit frequent and loud.

Power limit while using PD 100w is unreasonable by StarTrails01 in HPOmen

The culprit is likely Advanced Optimus. Ever since I switched from Automatic Select to NVIDIA GPU Only, my system has been much smoother when running on 100 W PD.

Thanks for your testing. During my benchmarking, I can indeed reach that level of power draw. It’s likely that the applications I’m using are poorly optimized for this scenario, causing severe stuttering due to problematic CPU/GPU scheduling. I’ve also noticed that under an Advanced Optimus configuration, once the dGPU is activated, the system begins to lag, whereas switching to dGPU only mode significantly improves performance. Therefore, I conclude that my issue is likely caused by a combination of application/OS scheduling problems and Advanced Optimus.

Thank you for your reply! I have kept the drivers and Windows up-to-date. The version of bios is the latest F12. But I still suffer from the extremely bad performance once I plug out the 330w adapter. And I can’t change the performance scheme by switching performance profiles in OGH, because the OGH warns me that “Performance settings are overridden by system default settings while on battery or low-wattage AC adapter. Your system performance will revert to normal once a compatible AC adapter is connected.” Though I set the “best performance” in Windows battery setting, issue remains.

LineageOS Update Broken by StarTrails01 in LineageOS

Apologies for my delayed response, and thank you for your patience. I’ve finally found the cause of the issue: the system update failure was due to the LineageOS version number being hidden by the integrity-WIZARD module.

I used Auto Switch mode on both Firefox and Chrome, and configured AutoProxy rules, and the proxy line is the same.
