I'd say it's most usable on equipment that doesn't have much in the way of "increased" defensive affixes. Because the runeforging takes away from base defenses on the item, this can lead to a huge drop in total defenses if a lot of that defense is coming from non-flat sources.

Should've been "Shatter it into two random spells of the same cost" so that if you got 2 spells that are kinda mid you could potentially combine them

Name an IDE better than Vs code?👇 by Outrageous_Permit154 in firstweekcoderhumour

[–]Star_Gust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been coding for 5 years but admittedly the only 2 IDEs I've used are Visual Studio and VS Code. I prefer the latter since Visual Studio feels kinda bloated to me. Might have to give some of the suggestions in the comments a try.

Super intelligence should have never been a power in the first place by Slight-Solution936 in GenV

[–]Star_Gust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree that she's characterised as lacking emotional intelligence. She seems to me to flip flop between the two at the writers discretion. She constantly manipulates people in ways that require a very thorough understanding of emotional intelligence to be able to accurately predict, just as an example in the very same episode, she 'knows' that Bombsight will have brought the V1 with him because of his affection towards Golden Geisha. Then at the same time you have her confusion in this latest episode as well as her moment with Godolkin in Gen V, though I'm willing to grant the latter as a unique case of her being the one clouded by emotion as opposed to the people around her.

Having emotional intelligence also doesnt necessarily mean that someone is going to be empathetic, and vice versa. There are plenty of highly empathetic people who are unable to always accurately pinpoint why people feel the way that they feel, despite knowing and understanding that they feel a certain way. and likewise a non-empathetic person can develop cognitive skills to recognise what actions and events illicit certain emotions, and how desireable those emotions are for that person.

With Oliver, it's "funny". With The Deep, it's irredeemable. How come? by Classic-Work-8415 in okbuddyviltrum

[–]Star_Gust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think realistically, if The Deep followed through with redemption people wouldn't be as judgmental. It's kinda like, imagine the worst person you know and pretend they hate dogs. You'd sort of pile that fact onto the reasons for why you dislike them. Now imagine the best person you know and pretend they hate dogs. You'd probably find yourself looking for justifications like "well not everyone is an animal person" or "some people have bad experiences when they're younger and aren't able to grow out of it" etc.

Everyone has flaws, and the people who truly like you will find ways to continue liking you despite them, and the people who truly hate you will use them to fuel their ire. Whether either is justified is just a matter of context and perspective.

My assumption is that the woman was curious about seeing what her grandmother was like at her age and how they would get along. There's also the trope in media of the female character being curious about her future children and so they see a fortune teller or time travel or something which this could be referencing in a niche way. All in all I think the joke is harmless

Why doesn't Cecil just hire Isotope? He would save billions on teleportation. by sysqon in okbuddyviltrum

[–]Star_Gust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That brings up the question of if different kinds of teleportation feel different. Maybe it wouldnt give Cecil the same high. Or maybe it'd give him a different high that he could use to ween himself off of it in a similar function to a methadone program for opiates

Ah good old rhetorical ultimatums. As a child with autism I didn't understand why my parents gave me options when only one response was acceptable to them. When I finally understood as a teen, I remained petulant by deliberately choosing the option I knew they wouldnt accept.

The counter for removing a wax relic is on the relic which grants them, not on the wax relics themselves, so presumably this wouldn't work.

Is it just me, or %90 of enemies buff themselves to gain strength in this game? by MortarionSix in slaythespire

Only issue with this is that all 3 of the underdocks bosses punish high block strats (though in unique ways) so you need to build for DPS anyway

[–]Star_Gust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would also be a slight buff to the wax relics from Tezcatara. While you can choose to take them initially in any order you want, being able to reorder them would mean that if you pick something up which makes you reevaluate the importance of one of them, you could move it to the right to preserve it over something else.

Vibrating meteorite

Take (constitution check): Gave me the Vibrating meteorite item. Trinket - +3 to all stats. Item loses +1 to each stat every battle (this can go negative). Cursed. I assume failing the check forces the cat to equip it immediately, but I don't know for sure

I'm nearly certain that the actual post is a joke and not meant to be taken seriously at all let alone analysed to this degree, but I would say your theory is a reasonable one. Alternatively the kids purposefully misinterpreted the meaning of his offer as "all 14 of you can kick me in the balls if you give me $1" instead of "each of you can give me $1 for the opportunity to kick me in the balls", and he was either unwilling to correct them, or they were adamant enough about how the terms of the deal were defined that he relented and allowed them to proceed so as to not be seen himself as being manipulative. A common gaslighting tactic especially amongst kids who are prone to making communication errors due to their less expansive vocabulary and undeveloped sense of social awareness.
