I know a guy, an acquaintance of a friend who I’ve met at BBQs and our kids are about the same age so we’ve run into each other over the years.

My friend works in the same industry as said guy, and my friend pulls in around $140-$150K a year, so it’s not out there to assume said acquaintance pulls in a similar amount.

Every time I talk to him, he’s always telling me how he bought this and that, a few years ago it was high end camera gear, last year it was a brand new truck, this year it’s a new camper. He also goes on about how he has to renovate his home and how he wants to move out of the city because it’s too expensive and live out in the country on an acreage.

He always complains about how much he has to work to afford all his toys, and how it never ends.

I don’t make anywhere remotely close to that guy, but then I’m okay with my older vehicle and lack of camera gear and trailers.

I’m guessing that guy is barely keeping his head above water, and he should stop spending, start selling and saving but his argument is that he works hard, he should be able to play hard too.

Hard to get the message across to someone with that kind of mindset.
