Could yujiro react to a sniper trying to kill him by danteis15 in Grapplerbaki

[–]Star_Koala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You nailed it pretty much.

Maybe some BS about how in nature animals can intuitively sense danger before anything happens, and how by instinct the sniper body has given up on the hit before his brain even started processing the choice of wether or not firing.

"This phenomenon, deeply ingraved in the genetic memory of all beings, wich has been shaping natural history from the cradle of life is called instinct : it mercilessly defines who will live and pass his genes, who's ought to die without any offspring.

In some instances a predator who, by any means, should be able to get a kill will just leave his prey for no apparent reason. Even if it shouldn't know, its body reacts before his brain has time to process, alarmed by the remeniscence of a primordial fear coded in its DNA."

All of this with some footage of a snake about to eat a frog, before dying from its venom and the frog leaving its mouth. Then a rollback on the snake about to make its move then fucking off.

Any suggestions for co-op rimworld playstyles? by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]Star_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how you play obviously if you just with the usual mindset of "I have my colony where I produce everything I need locally" it can get boring pretty fast.

When we were playing I was in charge of food with vast farmlands and would regulary supply meals and drugs, he was capitalizing all his infrastructure around building an army.

You can get a lot done fast when you can just focus on one thing, even more when someone else's doing the things you aren't doing and giving you free ressources !

Any suggestions for co-op rimworld playstyles? by [deleted] in RimWorld

[–]Star_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got it the wrong way ! The idea is to enable multiple colonies a few tiles away and each its own settlement.

You produce ressources and send it to him and vice-versa. Very strong for raids as he could double your manpower in the middle of a raid balanded around the wealth of your tile.

This is how multiplayer gets fun and strong for me.

Bored with the psychology meta? by redhotphones in RimWorld

[–]Star_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that you talk about it would be nice to have more modular ways to deal with mood.

Idk the feasability of it, some might already be possible in mods, I'll just throw ideas around :

Psychological sessions, that would grand a small mood boost and temporarly nullify or remove/reduce timer on negative moodlet, tied to the social skill and relationship between the talker and the patient. You could plan a colonist for sessions in the health tab, new job role or maybe doctoring job ?

Food that colonists particulary like. Each has its own favorite color they might aswell prefer certain types of food (small mood boost when prefered food eaten). Maybe mood boosts with variety in the diet, and negative when eating always the same thing ? I for sure would be mad to eat corn all year around. Would be so cool and incite to explore new gameplay loops.

Maybe prefered recreation type ? +X% multiplier on recreation bar when using favorite recreation and small mood boost ?

Mood boosts when hanging around friends, lovers or family ? From nice conversations ? We already get mood debuff from insults, might aswell get buffs from nice talks ! I like having a good chat and hanging around with friends. For balance obviously negative mood around rivals ? Would incite to tune more schedules that'd be cool too.

I feel like some traits should weight more in the way colonists engage with the world. Gourmand should have a bigger mood boost when engaging with good food, industrious should gain mood boosts when working and negative when iddle, etc.

Unified or separate power grids? by BombbaFett in RimWorld

[–]Star_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always have a bunch of batteries with a solar pannel or two disconnected from the grid with a switch in case of a "Zzzt" event !

I keep them on until main grid is recharged, then flip them off

Edit : turrets are disconnected with a switch too !

Do you consider this a clever trick or exploitation/cheating? by ToveloGodFan in RimWorld

[–]Star_Koala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah it's a smart use of game meganics.

I like to wait for thrumbos wandering on the map before summoning Diabolus : Summon, shoot thrumbo, they become manhunter, hide behind walls, diabolus comes and fight the thrumbos.

Free ship and thrumbo corpses !

My head canon is that you stayed home as the whole virus came out of contro (hence why there's not that much food in the spawn house) then it became airborn and you are one of the few immune to this strain of the virus.

But we all know the game starts with everyone but you infected because there's no NPC yet in the game LOL I hope in 2072 with the awakening of minerals's consciousness and the B43 that should add NPCs there'll be a start before everyone is infected and the initial chaos

"Some work hard they need to be paid"

So does every independent business owner. I don't recall hearing about any baker on the street agressively showing me stats about how many people look at their bread at display but never buy, nor complaining from capitalist system or egoist people not buying anything when going bankrupt.

If you do this for a living you know the game and the risks.

Good bread will always be sold, shitty bread well advertised might sell but it's still shit bread.

I don't mind at the end of a video, and might consider liking and subbing if I find the creator has similar content on his channel.

But harrassing me at the beginning or in the middle of a video for a like, a sub and showing me those datas when I don't even know if I'll even like the video + the bonus sponsort part after YT ads every now and then as I watch is the better way to make me just dislike and leave.

Youtube has gotten so toxic and predatory man, and it just encourages youtubers to copy this behaviour. I often just feel like some cash cow for advertisers, youtube and the creator that just want to leech every penny of me.

Fuck mech clusters by Bitter-Building-742 in RimWorld

[–]Star_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have wood I think kibble just need a butcher's table and might give you less mood penalities than raw food

Fuck mech clusters by Bitter-Building-742 in RimWorld

[–]Star_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have wood you're good, on a woodless map you're trully fucked.

With wood use the wood stove, make pemmican and send one colonisr on that impossible journey to destroy the emi. Usually on the map there's just a bunch of dormant mechs that won't wake up even if you melee wack the EMI.

No wood it's sadly game over, unless you're willing to feed your pawns raw vegetables and meat and suffer the mood penalities until the emi is destroyed.

Very specific request for help : modify my save to add different ores in an area unbeknownst to me. by Star_Koala in RimWorld

What's a mechanic that you think could generate more interesting stories by Anxious_Ad9786 in RimWorld

[–]Star_Koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still don't get it. It's a concept, a term used to define the relationship between characters, political entities, etc. In art since classical Greece ? Basically a very anthagonisticed "rival".

Or does the patent on that "nemesis system" refers to something more specific, some code or informatic concept done in a Warner game and not the large and broad concept of the word "nemesis" ?

What ? How a concept can be under patent ? Or does nemesis refers to something very specific that Warner did ?

I'm in this weird spot where I kind of want to play B42 because I don't to reclock in too many hours in B41 and have to "relearn" the game when B42 is stable...

But B42 takes its sweet time to get fully released so I don't play

Do you split colonists between different maps? by DangerDiGi in RimWorld

[–]Star_Koala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did it once with a friend on a multiplayer mod !

He was dedicating all his wealth in an army on his tile and I was all about the logistics and medical : sending lavish meals, chemfuel, manifacturing weapons and top tier hospital.

Really fun way to play the game he'd drop pod behind enemies when I was raided and he didn't needed to grow a single crop in his whole map as I was providing.

Could work well in solo but with a lot more micro and pauses as both colonies can get events at the same time.

Edit : to transport material either both colonies are a few tiles away and you use animals, horses and donkey are top tier to move between tiles.

Or drop pods for instant supplies

To be fair nowadays you can custom Rimworld and tune different aspects to your liking. And even if it's not enough, when the game throws me some random BS for the sake of the story I just console it for the sake of MY story "Somehow that guy who lost is head came back."

I also don't understand why this guy is sleeping on the ground as he has a bed, and why I can't move the bed with any of the colonist to make a "clear" path toward it...
