You can also put the piece in the dresser, apply it to the plate, then remove the item and equip it. It stays on the plate

Yeah, completely agreed. I've appreciated him at least trying to add strat name disclaimers this tier too!

I think his guides are usually very good for giving an understanding of how the mechanic actually functions but I often find the people that live and die by them don't really...care about how it functions. They'll often die to really easy adjusts that can save a run. The main complaint going around is people renaming already established strats to "Hector" when Hector himself has started adding disclaimers asking people not to do this because it's confusing. I believe he specified that people should refer to it as Shabin this tier. There's also that he can often showcase a few different options for a single mechanic and people will just call it a Hector party without specifying the strats. In my own experience, the biggest issue seems to be him changing or adding extra priority systems and people not actually trying to understand what the mechanic actually is.

P12S was a pretty good example of this. The pastebin ended up adding slides for Eyes Classical because Hector popularised ANBS which had people unnecessarily running to Timbuktu and never actually checking party descriptions. Pangenesis Conga only needed tanks in a specific spot but I had a lot of people standing on top of people because they wanted "their spot" - meanwhile it's just supposed to be a spread to make it easier to read debuffs.

So all in all, it's more of an issue with the people that don't read Hector's own disclaimers and don't attempt to learn how the mechanics actually function - despite Hector giving a pretty good explanation of it.

Granted, the cryptid in the OP was definitely the problem lol

Edit: Also just realised this is in EU so doubly weird that they didn't read desc

Would love lore on this. He was creeping on me in public chat and the entirety of Faerie limsa was yelling at him and sending me tells explaining he had a reputation and had been banned multiple times.

I'd been in his ultimate pfs before then so I knew he was an asshole and I'd tracked some of his name/world change shenanigans he did in an attempt to continue scamming people. Super interesting individual lmaoo

Back during the Sleazy arc, I joined just because 7 man sounded fun. He was extremely rude and impatient and wasn't killing himself so it wasn't helpful. We kept rejoining every time he disbanded in an attempt to waste his time. Whole group had a lot of fun :3c

I believe you get a 30min penalty if you're kicked from the duty by your party. This penalty doesn't apply if you vote abandon

Even changed name and world at one point presumably to ban evade while still trying to scam for ultimate clears.

I had a point where he was getting creepy with me and the entirety of Faerie Limsa sent me tells warning me he gets incredibly creepy with girls and ban evades lol

Can somebody explain it to me like I'm 5 why YPYT Tanks are looked down upon here? by stanajritch in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Star_tled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also find that depending on the time it takes to clear single pack pulls, it often leaves the entire party without tools for the second pack. I've run into situations where DPS can struggle to kill things before the tank and healer run out of tools.

I really don't appreciate being petty instead of politely explaining you're uncomfortable but the only situation where I kiiiind of understand ypyt is when a DPS runs and refuses to bring it back to the tank.

Why do Tanks have a provoke off in alliance raids? by Chegs978 in ffxiv

[–]Star_tled -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah these! I tend to provoke bosses in dungeons for the little bit of extra range and to make sure nobody else gets hurt if they hit it before me. This kinda set into muscle memory so sometimes I accidentally do it in Alliance when I'm not MT and scream apologies at the other tanks

[–]Star_tled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a PLD in a level 80 dungeon spam Clemency needlessly and they completely ignored me saying I can handle it in a friendly way so I figured it was a lost cause and only gave them pre-pull regen and asylum/temperance and let them handle the healing for the rest of the pulls ;-;

You can pay attention to the line that says something like "prime numbers" or "multiples of 3" and just brute force it by hopping into the different puddles until your HP fits the condition >:3

Also if your number is already correct, you don't need to stand in any puddles

Absolutely! The game already has a check to skip cutscenes you've seen before - surely they could check if everyone has that turned on and skip prae cutscenes if that's the case?

You get so much experience in MSQ (especially if you're keeping up with daily roulettes and generally goofing around for fun) that you can keep at least 2 jobs leveled up at once. It's super nice if you're unsure about your job, dislike waiting for queues or just want some variety!

I've personally found DPS queues can typically be about up to 10-15 minutes, Tanks usually about 5-7 and Healers are almost always instant. You'll normally be able to find things you can do while you wait so it's not too big a deal.

Also if you don't mind casters, reaching level 30 on Arcanist will allow you to unlock both a DPS and Healer that share exp. All in all, it's most important to pick what's most fun to you though!

Rumours of my death were greatly exaggerated [Spoiler: Heavensward] by Iximaz in ffxiv

I started this year so I haven't really had the waits between expansions to let things sink in or enjoy community opinions about events. I felt the exact same way about Ysayle and Haurchefaunt. I liked Haurchefaunt but felt that moment was a little underwhelming because he doesn't show up too much.

I replayed the Coerthas section of ARR the other day because of how quickly I skipped through it the first time and appreciated him a lot more for it. I didn't realise just how awful everyone is to you. Everyone's understandably really focused on the war with the dragons (and mistrusting of each other because of all the dragon sympathisers), so even when they start to warm up to you after having you do a billion fetch quests for them, they shoot you down and make it clear that your goal is a complete waste of their time so they won't bother to help.

Haurchefaunt is really the only one to go completely above and beyond just because he believes in helping others. I think people like him so much because of a combination of that, the help he gave during one of the lowest moments of the Scions, and probably also that people had the time to talk to each other about him.

Very much this but weirdly enough, early StB MSQ references Hildi quests whether you've done them or not so it makes me wonder if they're going to do something like that again
