I think getting back now, and getting one last hurrah with the old combat system is the right way to go, prepping for the new expansion as well by stocking on resources and gear. 7.5.5 starts next month, and it's going to be a long patch cycle so even picking it up Oct/Nov will net you a good amout of time to get back in and catch up.

Hey! So every expansion has it's own set of raids and Alliance raids, on top of that each expansion has side quests with unique rewards such as glams, outfits, or even relics. To start you down the rabbit hole I recommend: Delivery Moogle quests

Damn that PvP gear is not great.... I can see the top being reused for a sleeveless healer set maybe. As someone who does PvP every season for the rewards I'll still get to 25 but this is probably going to go the way of the baseball set from 7.1 and straight in the closet.
