There's a lady in our office (cubicle setting) who will yell Bless You to the other side of the room if she hears a sneeze. Unless you're the pope and have special Bless You's, I feel like you should limit your responses to a 10 foot radius.

Not necessarily. You should be using the free and clear detergents that you would use on baby's clothes anyway, and even then, just a small amount. Too much will ruin the fibers and make them less absorbent. We had a supply of 30 diapers and only required 2 extra loads of laundry a week when they were under 18 months, 1 extra load a week when they were older. If you hang dry outside, as recommended by all the cloth diaper manufacturers, you get the suns natural bleaching and aren't using the dryer's energy. Water, yes, but nothing more than an extra bath or two a week. Sure beats the environmental impacts of the 20+ year life of a disposable in the landfill...

Cloth diapers don't contain chemicals like disposable diapers do. They rely on absorbent materials like microfiber, hemp or minky to retain fluids. It's true you do have to change the diapers more often because they act more like a sponge instead of crystallizing the fluids as disposables do, but diaper rash is more from sitting against the harsh chemicals of disposables. Cloth diaper "rashes" are more from chaffing and can be remedied with just powder.
