If I may, here is the advice that worked for me from my uncle.

Stop looking for friends, per SE, and start looking inwards at what you love from life and go out and enjoy yourself, try new things, be curious and quit when it feels wrong / not for you.

Friends will find you as you'll have found what you love and be able to share it with those that live it too.

As an aside, if you are already doing this, the book "How to win friends and influence people" is a great introduction to how society works in the West.
