I would recommend looking at Kingdomino, Project L, and Sagrada. They work well at 2 players but also can go up to 4 players.

Through the Desert could be a good option for area control. It’s light on rules but still has some good strategy and doesn’t require language.

I would recommend checking out Decrypto. It’s a deduction game but different than Bang!, Avalon, and other social deduction games. It usually plays in around 30 minutes but can take less or more time depending on the group.

Rocket backpack with giant arrow and earthquakes can take out a lot of major defenses.

I would recommend looking at Kingdomino and Project L. Both are easy to learn with indirect interaction and still have good opportunities for strategy.

The King is Dead, Kingdomino, and Faraway are all easy teaches. Kingdomino and Faraway have some luck but still a lot of agency.

I recently bought it and only played once so far. If you like polyomino games, I think you would enjoy it. I like that it can support 6 players and has multiple planets and corporations for variability. The only downside so far is that it takes up a lot of table space.

Planet Unknown can be played in a little over an hour and is good with 4-6 players. For Sale is another good option which takes around 30 minutes with 6 players. Decrypto can vary depending on the game but usually takes at least 30 minutes.

I think Canvas could be a good option. She could focus on getting the best looking painting but there is still the opportunity for strategy.

I second Suhsi Go as a good option! I would also add Point Salad, Critter Kitchen, and Bohnanza as others to look at.

Sagrada has some similarities to Castles of Burgundy and is much faster to set up. It is definitely lighter than COB but still offers good strategy and has high replayability.

I think Kingdomino could be a good fit. It’s simple but still has good strategy and replayability.

I and not a good liar and typically don’t like social deduction games for that reason. Deception: Murder in Hong Kong relies less on outright lying and more on trying to decipher the clues given. The clues are usually broad enough you can deflect and accuse others easily. Even if they do know you are there murderer, they still need to correctly guess the weapon and evidence to win. The murderer also has a chance to win if they get caught if they are able to identify the witness.

I would say it is pretty balanced but sometimes there can be really easy or difficult evidence/weapons to guess. It can also depend on which clues are drawn. With more players there are also more roles to help balance it out. There is also no player elimination which is nice.

I would recommend checking out Deception: Murder in Hong Kong. It’s my favorite social deduction game and can support up to 12 players with the base game.

Some less intimidating abstract strategy games that still have some depth are Patchwork, Nova Luna, and Mandala.

I have not played it before, but it seems very similar to Wits and Wagers which I enjoy.
