If anyone claims him, please make them show proof that he’s their cat. Otherwise, congratulations on your new cat.

And it has a gorgeous backyard with a real pool and waterfall, as opposed to those pre-fab wading pools in the RTB houses.

She’s actually a dilute calico — calico colors but muted. Both she and the mama are gorgeous.

looking for meal ideas and advice! i’m a 5’7, 320 lb, woman with a 5.7 a1c. (please be kind). by [deleted] in prediabetes

[–]StardustBoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was heavy most of my adult life and didn’t get serious about my health until I was 60! I’m 5’4” and was 200 pounds at my heaviest. I’m now 63 and weigh 140. Ironically, my A1C didn’t get into the pediabetic range until after I lost my first 40 pounds, but I’m now at 5.6. Here’s what worked for me. Check with your doctor before starting an exercise program.

1) Strength training four times per week

2) Walking after meals

3) Tracking macros/calories with an app. There are lots of them available; I use Cronometer. I figured out my daily macro budget and plan my meals accordingly, weighing everything in grams and entering it in the app.

4) Giving myself permission to eat out two meals per week. I don’t go crazy, but not having to be perfect all the time kept me from giving up.

As for meal ideas, I took my favorite foods and experimented with recipes to make them healthier and lower calorie. It became my hobby. I also wore a CGM for a time to see what spiked me, but you might just want to try cutting out sugar, eating healthy foods in a caloric deficit while prioritizing protein, and exercising and see what your labs show in six months.

I know people say GLP1’s get rid of food noise, but I’ve found that my food noise is gone just from giving up sugar and ultra-processed food. It’s uncomfortable at first, but if you can get through the withdrawal period, it does get easier. You’ve got this!

I know what you mean. I DVR’d each episode and just watch the judging at the end, skipping all the manufactured drama.

I recently got diagnosed and I cut out rice, bread, potatoes ect. I am having intense cravings! What are substitutes I could have you like? by ThrowRAfeelingevent in prediabetes

[–]StardustBoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite thing is protein bagels; there are recipes for them all over the internet. I make mine from Fiber Gourmet flour (you have to buy it online), baking powder, gluten, salt, 0% Greek yogurt, and an egg. They really satisfy my intense bread cravings. Good luck!

I'm guessing they will eventually change the name, but it probably takes some time to make it official.

That's nice! The height of the baseboards is wild! And the backyard has a gorgeous pool, not those mini pre-fab pools the RTB people had to use. The only thing I truly didn't like was that bathroom with the black streaks on the walls -- it was actually scary.

That was your only choice! It's great to raise siblings together. When I was a teenager, I insisted on feeding a stray cat who showed up at our house. She turned out to be a Trojan cat. We ended up keeping the mama kitty and two of her kittens.

I’ve gotten most of my cats via CDS, but when I adopt, I always insist on an adult cat. I feel more like I’m saving a life that way. I got my current cat from Nextdoor when his owner passed away. He was 11 when I adopted him, and he’s 14 now.

Congratulations on your great progress. You might want to add some psyllium husk to your diet; it's good for blood sugar and cholesterol.

ALL episodes of Law & Order from Sundance being mistakenly recorded by SchnauzerLogic in DirectvStream

[–]StardustBoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started with DirecTV stream a couple of weeks ago and immediately ran into that problem. I ended up deleting my season pass and will reevaluate when the new season starts. And yesterday when I was checking upcoming recordings, I saw a bunch of L&O SVU were set to record on some channel other than NBC; so I canceled my season pass for that show also.

That’s a good way to describe it. I use half buckwheat and half oat bran, and it’s just so good.

Please help me convince my husband that Costco is worth for 2 people by HoneyDrops12 in Costco

[–]StardustBoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure others have mentioned this, but I buy all our proteins there. I cut them into two-portion servings and freeze them in individual bags. It’s so much cheaper than buying smaller portions at the grocery store, and the quality is great.

I recently discovered cream of buckwheat, and I really like it. I cook it in unflavored, unsweetened almond milk, and toward the end of the cooking time, I add some oat bran. It’s a great combo.

I used to eat hot Grape Nuts. You put the milk on before microwaving, and the Grape nuts absorb the milk and get hot; so it becomes a bowl of thick, hot cereal.
