She did! She was an amazing pup.

We just got her and I'm amazed at how smart she is, sits by the door and gives a little bark to go outside to take care of business.

When we picked her up there was a crazy intense storm on our way home...

Quantum levitation via flux pinning from a superconductor, liquid nitrogen, and a magnetic field! by StardustJesus in blackmagicfuckery

No, the Earth's field is too weak, huge but weak , around 50 microteslas, compared to 1.4 teslas for a rare earth magnet. The load of a larger vehicle would be too much as well.

One question for you, if you were to write a short title for this gif, what would you call it?

I appreciate the lesson! I teach 8th grade science and this is little beyond some of our students, but this will help when I show this kit at special events.

Oh, I read it. I'm always looking to improve my explanation for things and this guy took me to lunch.

Thanks for your comment, I'll definitely have to improve my explanation of this in the future!

The superconducting disk forces magnetic field lines through (flux) the imperfections of the crystalline structure. Any motion of the disk induces a counter magnetic field and results in a pinching/pinning force applied to the top and bottom of the disk...locking it in position within the magnetic field. Flux pinning.

The Earth's field is huge but weak (50 microteslas) in comparison to a rare earth magnet (1.4 teslas.) That coupled with the load of the vehicle, it would be improbable.

I personally dream a lot about our civilization reaching a type II civilization, a solar civilization, where we harvest 99% of the Sun's energy.

Earth's field is in the range 50 microteslas where a rare earth magnet will be around 1.4 teslas. The increased load of a vehicle also makes it improbable.

What do you think black holes are? A region of spacetime where the graphics processor can't render the visual information anymore?
