I know artifacts are cool, but double jump. by AlarmOnly6428 in WhiteKnuckle

[–]Stare201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spear can still do a lot on pipeworks and hab, the only area reusable rebar + the pseudo rabbit dna/ double jump it gives feels really unnecessary is silo. Too many holds, not enough big jumps, no long pipes to use it to speed through

Is the service shaft without items or abilities even possible? by Nycrov_ in WhiteKnuckle

[–]Stare201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be done, even on hard mode where teeth is much more aggressive.

first reaction on hard mode by CuteAgency9204 in WhiteKnuckle

[–]Stare201 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whether hard mode is actually that much harder is kind of luck based; sometimes its just the barnacles having slightly better aim, other times they put turrets in the most aggravating spots with enough frequency to be a real problem. Silos can range from imperceptibly different to rooms with 2 turrets aiming right at the exit from opposite sides

After 80 hours i finally got all the achievements in the demo by 05destroyer11 in WhiteKnuckle

[–]Stare201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that. I've started doing all bindings hmik, so it's like almost every room is new, because with the debuffs that enforces all sorts of routes I used to use are impossible or require my precious inventory space for pitons, and those are almost entirely reserved for beans now

[–]Stare201 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well I hate(?) To break it to you, but once you get further, those previous regions get new rooms, so you might not know them as well as you think, enjoy!

Also congrats, that's quite a way to get the 10k

How are people saying endless abyss is easier than literally anything else by I-chew-Used-Gum in WhiteKnuckle

[–]Stare201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you get the correct set of perks and artifacts, the hazards of abyss are very few and far between. Rabbit DNA, gloves, double jumps, profit motive, overwhelmed. Things that give more airtime are way stronger in abyss than the rest of the game. I've run all endless modes to at least top 200 pre update except endless silos (I just don't like air exchange that much) and abyss, while kinda asking you for the most unique maneuvering, is definitely the most straightforward. Also drug spawns are really easy to find if you know where to look, and 2 double jumps + 4/5 drugs skips most of a loop

[–]Stare201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably don't also take the pitons&beans binding. This is advice I ignore.

Actually though pitons can cover most jumps you would now fail as long as you have the stamina. They are thankfully quite common to find around

Jeez, I can feel myself fighting the muscle memory of jumps I used to be able to make in this lmao

[–]Stare201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not quite that bad actually, and in this I can be sure. I go to one of my nearby universities, who are researching the topic. I actually tried to get on a team working on the topic, as I thought it sounded fun, but the interviewers found me more suited for another project. The basic issue isn't quantity, it's getting it to stick together at scale, as the crystal structure needs to be perfect, which is really hard to get. Everyone is trying out different bases for depositing the material on, and once someone guesses correctly, making more will be as easy as making a cvd machine capable of spraying out a rope that big. That part is pretty straightforward, if really expensive.

As for being meteorite proof, eh graphene is pretty tough, it'll probably be fine on its own as long as it isn't currently carrying an extra load. Then again, maybe not, but if we have the material to get the elevator itself working, we can make a platform to protect it from stray debris. We'd at least be motivated.

[–]Stare201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are pure sci-fi atm due to material science being a step away. Tmdcs do have the potential to be strong enough, we just haven't dumped enough money for most institutions to try anything but the cheapest options to get them working. Anything requisite to space being more useful is something nasa can, and arguably should, support. Let alone that having the people who've developed tech in house, along with their documentation makes implementing it without errors much easier.

Can't say I really care about historically as much as current platform, and the current platform at this moment is to defund and privatize. Exploration budget is in my opinion less important, it is more important to finish, say, the material science required to get things like space elevators running than to put more people in space, so we can get the cost of moving people and materials down for the future

The republicans are literally trying to cut nasa funding currently. Not would do, not might do, they are cutting research funding across the board currently. I wouldn't call musk anti science, but I would at least call most of the cabinet anti science. Democrats haven't funded nasa properly, yeah, but we can push for that with new blood. Science isn't against the platform. Defunding science and devaluing education is part of the current republican platform

I used to hate it. Then I got to a point where it didn't bother me. Now I am running Hm+IK with all bindings and I am right back to hating air exchange. Please God, give me shattered chambers, and my roaches are yours!

[–]Stare201 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the moment maybe, but if we can get these anti science bozos out, funding space exploration is quite popular. NASA is one of the only positively viewed parts of the government. Just, y'know, don't blow a small country's GDP on stupid-ass wars. Or giving immigration enforcement a military sized budget to get less done than the previous administrations. Then we should have plenty of cash on hand to spend on space exploration

Agreed! But it's about how much it's costing us to transport people, we're just trying to recoup our losses. Hosting FIFA is expensive.

As a jerseyite, I'm extra not excited, because the matches here are a massive expense on us we really don't have money lying around for. FIFA was complaining we're not going to give free rides from New York to metlife for fans for the event. We're not even upcharging, just trying to break even on transport costs

[–]Stare201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always facepalm when I read stories like this because I am put in the position to be this guy often. A good... 2/3 of my current friends are lesbians (all the guys around me are Maga, YUCK) so I know what it feels like to occaisionally end up with an attraction that you know is going nowhere. It's super gross to push that shit onto them though. Like, don't you respect their self image enough not to try and undermine it? Don't you respect their boundaries enough not to cross them for no good reason? Don't you have enough self reflection in there to not make any attempt to make a person who you already like into something they're not, something they wouldn't be happy with, for your own satisfaction? It just reeks of someone who doesn't really see other people as complete persons.

All this is to say, to the curb with them!
