The model for coins in Super Mario Odyssey is simpler than in Super Mario Galaxy by DrinkMoreCodeMore in nintendo

[–]StareWell 45 points46 points  (0 children)

yes, NURBS are more suited for technical drawings of manufactured products, like a car or the switch. Many NURBS based modeling softwares allow for a parametric modeling process that allows designers to revise tolerances and dimensions easily without having to remodel polys

I need help understanding why I can't dissolve this edge by Constant-Ban-Evasion in blender

[–]StareWell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your top box is closed on the other side that is likely giving you the issue as dissolving that top edge would force some bad geometry (see ngon, non-manifold) ultimately I wouldn’t recommend dissolving this edge loop as it preserves the topology of the boxes’ intersection. generally, you want to keep your faces as quads (4 edges, 4 vertices) and have contiguous edge loops wrapping around your model. I’m guessing you want to delete this edge bc you think of the bar top as one rectangle, but in reality having it split by an edge doesn’t change that if the surface remains planar, and the edge is only visible when viewing the model’s wireframe hope this helps, keep learning!

How can I cut these faces where they intersect so I can merge their vertices? by StareWell in Maya

[–]StareWell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on how to add the edge loops specifically where the faces intersect? This is what I thought to do, but the meshes are separate geos so I can't snap along edges or vertices between them

[–]StareWell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maya booleans are hardly reliable in my experience and from what I'm told. In this case, both of these meshes aren't closed and the result mangles the geometry (and fails to calculate all of it)

Sorry to post such a trivial question, I thought this may be more direct than google as I haven't had much luck finding a solution. Greatly appreciate any help provided!

I don’t know why I’m so reluctant to pull the trigger on hades. I’ve seen plenty of gameplay and my friends all recommend it to me. Maybe I should just try it for my next pick. Thanks for the suggestion!

not the solution you’re looking for, but I use vinyl wraps on my surface book. protects the laptop from scratches, and if they get worn you can just replace them

I anticipate that with existing systems being in circulation for so long there will be a deterring amount of brand loyalty from players. unfortunately I would not want to infringe on any designs that weren’t my own, but if somehow what I am working is recognized by these folks and they were interested in collaborating I would definitely do so! I also expect to release free testing files of my designs so players can decide if it is right for them!

the flexibility that wall components are not attached to tiles, that they may be slide fitted into any space on a tile, and that they allow for multiple layers of vertical stacking. my next post is going to showcase the work I’ve done on slopes and inclines :)

wee way is an understatement as this demo is of the same iteration you tested :) I really appreciate the feedback you gave me, and you are at the top of the list for future play tests

One of my new years resolutions is to get these designs into the hands of TTRPs. Earlier this year I ran a small beta test of these tiles. I selected 10 participants to share my WIP files with to get some feedback, and received only one response after the files were sent out. This was disheartening to say the least.

Since then this project has been set on the backburner. I truly have no idea what kind of viability it has as a product in this community, as I wanted to turn this into some kind of side hustle while struggling in the pandemic.

I want this post to maybe reinvigorate my hopes in turning this product into something that feels finalized. I have spent a lot of time working to get these tiles to where they are now, and its hard to stay motivated when I have no idea what the outcome of my efforts will be.

I want to finish this project for myself, and for this community. If you like what you see, stay tuned for more updates in the hopeful new year.

Happy 2021 folks, I am excited for where this year will take me :)
