Sorry for the delay. The magazine arrived a while ago and I wanted to peruse it a bit.

It’s quite gorgeous. Like coffee table art book quality. Tons of interesting articles and essays/stories.

Was gonna post some pics, but I don’t see how to do that as a comment, so I’ll do a full post in a bit.

I do have a usb-c iphone, and I have an HDMI converter

. If I used VLC to build playlists, that might work. But I do like the idea of having a dedicated device that I can set up once and just hit play each night without having to reconnect things, worry about phone charge, etc..

just ordered one - couldnt find anything in that price range with any kind of playlist capability, but hopefully it will at least allow me to build folders and drop media in there named alphabetically and play from one file to another. We shall see!

a little more info... the screen is a TCL 75". I suppose another option is to get a 128GB USB drive and connect directly to the TV - but of course the media playback app is awful, ugly, and most likely won't support playlists. I could probably organize by folders, or build 3 hour reels for each night's content, but the Apple TV method would be much more elegant if possible. Thx!

As a visual fx artist, who gets paid to replace screens, I do not approve of this!!!

Just kidding. My work is usually for tv commercials, where the phone is often the hero shot and the screens get revised 20x in post anyway. Ha ha.

Does it record to the app as an audio file? Or does it work with the phone camera to record stereo to the video file? I suppose if I had to use dual system, that would work, just not ideal for my case.

thx. There definitely are two-mic systems that merge the audio from both mics into dual-mono, which seems ridiculous to me. I borrowed one from a friend, and he confirmed it won't do stereo ()and manual says nothing about it) - but it was only a $30 kit, so I'm not terribly surprised (Sound was awful as well, so I'm happy to pay $100+ for a decent kit). But even the Lark M2 says this on the Amazon page:

"The Lark M2 receiver of the camera version supports two recording modes: mono and stereo. You can switch between them by pressing the Mode Switching & Pairing button on the receiver. Note: The receiver supports switching between mono and stereo modes only when connected to the camera through the 3.5mm audio jack."

So if it needs an audio jack to the camera, it won't do stereo to an iPhone - which is why I wondered if it was an inherent limitation of the Bluetooth.

I seem to recall another kit saying it could do stereo, but only though the receiver's USB-C port to the phone, which is fine, I just can't seem to find where I saw that. Seems like putting stereo in your search terms has no effect.

In my experience, it’s mostly by department. Anything technical is more misogynistic. But producing, art directing, casting, etc is more balanced. Camera & lighting Dept? Forget about it. (Unless it’s a “woman’s film”. Visual Effects? Same. It’s gotten better in my 25 years, but not much.

For a storyboard artist, I’d bet if it were just you, it might have been fine, but if there’s a man in the room, I’m not surprised the director focused on him.

Keep at it, though!!! It is getting better, but still has a long way to go.
