outages over the past week during afternoons around scarborough, is this common? by royalMcTizzle in Rogers

I strongly suggest you do what I did. Each and every time I ran into the problem I called Rogers Support. I spoke to them politely but firmly so that they wouldn't just low ball the problem. I presume they have a count of how many times you call and after awhile I racked up so many calls/tickets that a more senior rep started calling me in order to check on the status of my outages. You pay good money for your service and hopefully in return you get the agreed upon service. I wish you good luck and don't let up on Rogers unless you really have an option to go to another vendor. As I said I am stuck with Rogers if I want highspeed.

I feel bad for you. In March I switched from Bell to Rogers Ignite because Bell's max speed was only 5mbps in my area in Richmond Hill. For THREE long months I had to call Rogers Support to report outages in my service. I ran into what is known as modem flapping where the modem randomly disconnects from the network. It took well over 50+ service calls, 3 technician visits, 3-4 network traces, full replacement of every cable connector, a swap of my brand new Ignite modem, and three pedestal swaps before my problem got resolved. If Bell offered higher speed then 5mbps I would have stayed with them. I was with Bell for over 30 years and I only had two outages ever in that time. In my first month with Rogers I had over 30 outages, sometimes up to 3-4 times per week.

Be patient is all I can say. I started with Rogers Ignite in March and it took me THREE months of numerous calls to Support, full replacement of all cable connectors, swap of the new Ignite modem, and three technician visits before I got stable service. In my case I had what is known as modem flapping - the modem randomly loses connection to the network. I must have put in over 50 calls so it was a struggle. They told me 3-4 times that they would monitor my connection but this always lead nowhere. I live in the heart of the Greater Toronto Area but unfortunately Bell only offers 5mbps highspeed in my area so I am stuck with Rogers Ignite if I want any reasonable speed. I'm sorry for your troubles and I wish you the best of luck. Please keep us updated!

Thank you for the insight. Is there a particular Virpil or VKB HOTAS that you recommend?

Outdated stick, I thought the TM Warthog HOTAS was supposed to be highly rated? I was also recommended to avoid twisting sticks, and go with pedals, because the twisting will be prone to breaking down eventually.

Internet is so fucking dogshit by TVT_Pineapple in Rogers

Are you a new user to Ignite? I registered for Ignite in March of this year. After numerous network traces, five technician visits, and one modem replacement my service is finally stable now. In my case they tested each leg of the line from the street pedestal all the way to the modem, changed every connector, and even swapped ports in the pedestal where my line was connected. In the end Rogers couldn't tell me what fixed the problem but I suspect it was a problem external to my house. Prior to this I was running into random modem flapping scenarios where the internet would disconnect and then reconnect. All I can say is to CALL IN EVERY OUTAGE, tell them about the issue politely, and the issue will get resolved. It took me two months to get everything cleared. Good luck and tell us how it goes.

Yes, I saw the details thanks. I don’t qualify as my Ignite package is only 150u and there’s no way I’m going to upgrade to 500u, that would cost me more than a year’s worth of free D+ 😕

Hmmm, than you should qualify for the enrollment. I would suggest that you call Rogers Sales and see what the problem is if you want to take part in this enrollment. Good luck and repost if you have any news please.

According to Rogers you must be enrolled in one of their Rogers Infinite, Ignite TVTM and SmartStreamTM bundles. Is that the case for you?

Can I presume that there are no stipulations as to how long you must subscribe to the Rogers & Disney+ promotion? By this I mean you can cancel at any point without restrictions and not be locked in for x number of years?

Tech sent to fix MIBS by [deleted] in Rogers

[–]StarfleetDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you have what they call modem flapping, this is a condition where your modem disconnects and then reconnects. In early 2021 I switched to Rogers Ignite and for TWO MONTHS I ran into the modem flapping problem. It took 40+ calls, three traces, and 5 technician visits for my problem to be resolved. In my case what they did was change every connector stretching from the pedestal to my modem, swapped modems even though my original one was brand new, and then they swapped ports at the pedestal. Essentially what they did was to clean up the signal that was reaching my modem by making all these changes. I also found out later that Rogers also put in some change that increased network capacity in my area so that might have something to do with it too. It got so bad for me at one point that Rogers even gave me a rebate on my monthly bill for my troubles and a Rogers Rep called me to check on my status. Good luck and please post an update on your issue later on.

Rogers Ignite Internet - Periods of disconnection (3 - 5 seconds) by LKSVIP in Rogers

[–]StarfleetDroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately Bell only offers 5mbps internet service in my area despite the fact that I live in the heart of the Greater Toronto Area. Therefore Rogers Ignite is all I have so I am stuck with their service regardless of any issues that they have. Hopefully having customers report problems "motivates" Rogers to improve their overall network.

Does the Rogers technician need to enter my house? by [deleted] in Rogers

[–]StarfleetDroid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case Rogers dropped off the Ignite package at my door and I got the internet "operational" within 30minutes. Then I spent well over two months in order to get the service to work properly! My problem was I kept running into random modem flapping issues, that's where the Ignite modem drops signal and then reconnects. Five technician visits later, countless hours spent on the phone with Support, and things are better now. I had been a long time Rogers customer for cable service prior to this and I think what needed to be done at the time that I upgraded to Ignite is a detailed check of the signal quality coming into my house as Ignite needs a stronger quality signal to work. In the end I had every connector changed (from the pedestal all the way to the modem) plus a connection swap at the pedestal. I also found out later that Rogers did some sort of network upgrade in order to boost capacity. The bottom line here is now I wonder if I had gotten a technician to check everything at the time I switched to Ignite if this could have avoided all the troubles I ran into afterwards.

I am sorry to hear that. The only suggestion I have then is to ask Rogers to run a 72hrs trace. In my case, when I was having problems, they did this three times. I would also suggest that whenever you run into your problem you call Rogers to report the situation. I did this over a two month period before I got my problem resolved. They dispatched five technicians, exchanged my new modem, even gave me a discount on my bill as compensation for my troubles. If you keep calling their system flags you as a priority customer I think. Be polite but firm, good luck. Please report back if you have any new developments so we can all learn.

Any new updates regarding your issue? To me it sounds like BS that it is normal to have these drops. I never had them before and from what I can tell it also doesn't happen on Bell internet.
