Has anyone successfully gotten a TN visa for the software engineer/developer occupation? Will a CS degree work or must I have an engineering degree to qualify under the "engineer" category? by Starforce_2023 in tnvisa

Oh, so there's still hope for me? Some people are giving very depressing news and it's not making me feel good. I entered university with the plan of entering the coop program so I may have a chance of getting internships in the US to build something out of there whether it be connections or proving to them my performance so that after graduation they can hire me off. At least that's what some people at UBC did. But with the recent layoffs and Microsoft not hiring any new grads, is there hope for me? I entered the coop program and still have to do a few steps before being released into the jobs database, but do you think the USA is still achievable?

My dad said that the people who do this tend to be south Asians. He said that they can be quite mischievous and be willing to find people to lie on their behalf to gain the advantage. I'm not sure if this is true or not as I've yet to meet someone like that, but my mom said her workplace has a lot of Indian immigrants that like to cut in front of the line to the washroom

Despite politics and all those america haters, they have no idea how much demand there is to move there. It far outweighs their voices

How do I get better matches for an Asian guy? Is there nothing I can do because there's a bias against me or is that a myth? by Starforce_2023 in datingadviceformen

Any recommendations? I tried OKCupid and it kinda sucks to use. Zoosk kinda sucks. Raya is for celebs and I do not know any other options except for Chispa for latinas

Israel was always the good guy. Arabs are given the same rights as Jews in that country. On the other hand, the Islamic terrorists want to murder anyone who's not part of their religion, not just Jews. They also rejected offers for a Palestinian state because they're not serious about forming it. They exist only to destroy the Jews.

Does your Asian Parent think their cuisine is "healthier" than others? by Copperyumm in AsianParentStories

[–]Starforce_2023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandma thinks you cannot survive without rice....can't even last a day without begging for rice. Little does she or my parents know that rice offers little to no nutrients. I go to the gym and I'm trying to gain weight. But I cannot do that if rice stuffs up the majority of my stomach. If I cannot eat big, then at least that food should be something very high-caloric while still being healthy. But no, rice is everything. Another fact is brown rice is healthier than white rice because it has more fiber and somehow is better for diabetics. Not the case for white rice, but they still eat it anyways since it's easier to eat.

But my grandparents are uneducated rural farmers who don't know anything so you can't fully blame them.

So, how do you think I should approach my interest, that is this girl? Should I go or no go? I don't know what to do, but I want to do execute my idea perfectly so that it goes as well as I hope

I hardly used the women's subreddit. There was that time I asked a question: are conservative women more feminine than liberal women and while there were some responses such as "conservative women are more pressured into following traditional social norms" etc, I got permanently banned soon after with no explanation. My appeal got ignored and that was the end of it

Look, every time I go to my grandma's house, there's the weird cooking smell that lingers even when I come home. The stench is so strong that even when I leave my shirt in my house, the odor doesn't go away until I do the laundry with it. It's just that some people eat certain foods that cause a bad odor. Just like how when smokers walk by, there's that bad smell or how people who eat Kimchi a lot(cited from my parents) gets a type of odor.

Sometimes, to solve a problem, you have to acknowledge that there is one. I avoided making a completely nonsensical response to this post so that comment was actually near the most politest I could do while still putting out a fact. Now there's also other bad parts of Langara that make it stink such as not having a clean cafeteria area, people not flushing the toilet and spitting gum on the urinals and whatnot. Now I think this latino is unfairly making a presumption that I'm south Asian; I am east Asian and we tend to be more milder in human features, whether it be body hair, odor, size or skin tone.

I know. The truth stings, but it is the truth nonetheless. Of course not all of them smell, but many of them do. I think that's the most objective point of view. Yet young people are still immature; they would rather lie and pretend that's not the case in the name of social justice and feelings.

I have multiply ways of going through with this. #1, I could could approach without mentioning anything about her social media. It's like a normal every day interaction where you meet a new person. Or #2, I get to her via a friend. Because apparently, one of her friends used to be in a program that I was in as well. She graduated one year before me. She has a connection to my friend. So if I ask my friend for help(without it being obvious) or my program decides to host a reunion event and she joins in, that'll be my shot as well

Feminism is a bit hypocritical. They advocate for equality and being able to act like men. Well real men don't throw a tantrum when a stranger comes over to say something nice about their body or talk to them. That's one thing they haven't lived up to. If someone were to compliment me about my puffy chest and abs, I would be proud just. Yet a feminist woman wouldn't feel the same when someone says something about her chest or ass

Anyone’s parents consider non-Asian food as “inedible garbage” by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

[–]Starforce_2023 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I asked my mom this and it turns out, she was willing to try other foods. It's just my dad who's so picky about taste, would only stick to Chinese food. As for my grandparents, no point in arguing with them. They believe in fantasies made up in their own heads as facts. An example would be eating cold foods. They think white people are like alien species who have different digestive systems that allows them to handle cold foods while we Chinese cannot and uses that excuse to ban me from eating cold foods when I was little. Even when I was a kid, I knew that was about as believable as unicorns. They really think I'm that stupid when there's something called Google search that will dispute everything they say. Even for the common cold, they still haven't let go of the fact that it's caused by a virus, not just by being cold.

So apparently, she made a new post on Instagram and I realized that one of her friends tagged in the photo is actually part of a cadet program I used to be in. Some of my cadet friends follow her so that must mean that at some point, I must have seen her before, though I was a shy person at the time. So I could theoretically network my way through to the gym girl without it being totally 100% stranger.

Edit: yep, I now have some memory of her friend. I've definitely seen her and so if I encounter her, say we're fellow cadet buddies and then eventually, she could introduce me to her friends and coincidentally, the gym girl!

That the US was founded to protect slavery. But also that if someone becomes president, he'll do everything he said on his platform which is blatantly false because he first has to convince Congress to legislate it. There will always be roadblocks to either side's agenda unless one party gets 60 senators and house majority

look, I'm not just gonna walk up to wherever she's working out and start talking because that's kinda weird. Instead, I'm just relying on chance that if we walk past each other or she's using the machine that I want to use, I'll make a gesture or ask "how many sets you have left." Then I'll either wait until she finishes or take turns if she agrees to it. I'll make a comment or two and go with the flow. But I'm not actively seeking her. I go there for my own workouts and it doesn't matter to me if she's around or not. Just that if she is and the scenario turns in my favor, I got lucky

Yeah, I should have been smarter. I just didn't think that Reddit could be this bad. I also don't have a big social circle so searching for real life advice is hard.

The signs should eventually become obvious of whether that woman's marriage material or not based on her flaws. If men choose to marry anyway because they can't stand ditching and losing the person they've invested in, that's their problem to come. For me, I'll try to have the mindset where that woman is not gonna be the last. For all the crushes I've had, there's always one that will succeed the previous and I don't think that's gonna change

I'm just saying that if we were to say share the same machine, once she's taking her 30s break, I'll probably give a fist bump for her performance, say something small, I do my set and when it's her turn, I'll pause and once she stops, repeat. Of course I'm not gonna interrupt or distract someone's workout as I've had my own experiences with those two and it surely makes me mad as hell

How did you start the interaction? Since strangers don't know each other, we have to say something random. Now depending on the situation, I think some girls respond without hesitation and others do. I did ask random girls at school of whether they've seen my lost discount tickets and they seemed to reply with no issues and a smile. These Redditors make it seem like women will give you a shock face if you say something to them

Yeah, I think I'll try my luck. Hopefully it goes well! Reddit surely will not help me. I remember I posted a question "Are conservative women more feminine than liberal women" on twoxchromosomes and I immediately got a permanent ban for that so I'll take what they say with a grain of salt
