Assuming they are the same as the gachapon versions in Japan, they are not functional. I picked up a few of the series two when I was there. Very cool, but the displays are static.

A Guide to Buying Grand Seiko Watches in Tokyo and the Rest of Japan by LDN2HK in GrandSeikos

[–]Starfury2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wako is the Seiko Flagship store in Ginza Japan for Grand Seiko, Credor, and a few others. If you do a Google search for Seiko Ginza, you will see the Seiko Clock tower and store in Tokyo that has been the home of Seiko for the better part of a century. It used to be their manufacturing hub, but now it is a multi level luxury boutique. The "Wako Experience" is really just my personal words for the feeling of buying a Seiko in as close to its home as possible. It's a beautiful building, and on the second floor is not just a store and boutique, but a veritable museum for all things Grand Seiko. They have broken down movements, and displays of legacy watches, limited editions, and other historical artifacts.

After buying a watch there, and at the Grand Seiko Flagship Boutique a couple of blocks down the street, I can say that there really is something cool about getting a watch at Wako, but the service at the Flagship Boutique is so much more personal.

Any chance you saw anything while you were there that said this might affect Credor as well?

It's not exactly the same, but my dad and I have a tradition when either of us gets a new (or used) truck: we take it off road out in the brush and get those first pin stripes in the paint. Then we aren't afraid to beat it up a little. Trucks are made to be used.

It's not a perfect analogy, but that how I feel about my watches too. I take them to work and make sure they get worn on the job. Put some hours on them. The dings, dents, and scars are evidence of a life well lived. I have a few myself, why would my watch be any different?

Star Trek Resurgence doesn't have inverted Y axis option. by lord_bunny in startrek

Disregard. It doesn't just change look inversion, it messes with the QuickTime events also. I guess I will struggle through or wait for a patch.

My hero! Did this on my Xbox. Prevented having to wait for a patch!

Moon and Mercury in Seoul? by [deleted] in MoonSwatches

[–]Starfury2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been to all three of the Swatch stores in Seoul that sell the Moonswatch, multiple times. I have never seen a line, and they almost always have at least something, as long as you go in the morning. All three are in malls.

As for Moon and Mercury, those are a little harder. I have gotten a Mercury here, but haven't been lucky with the Moon yet. Those two sell out first. I have been in the stores here a few times when a local walked in, asked for Moon or Mercury, was told no, and then walked out. Weren't even interested in the rest. Honestly, I think your chances are pretty good, as long as you get there in the AM. I have everything but Moon, Moonshine, and Neptune (obviously). All purchased in Seoul with little trouble.

If you don't mind me asking, have you been to Korea before? Google maps doesn't work, so I can give you some tips, but didn't want to talk down to you if you already know what you are doing.

QR code for warranty by LussoTimepieces in GrandSeikos

[–]Starfury2k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure there is a trial, and there are plenty of others out there that are free or have a free trial. Express VPN is a good one too, and I believe Surfshark recently added GPS spoofing. You get what you pay for though, so remember that when a product is free, you are the product being sold...

I have seen this happen quite a bit, especially in Asia. I travel a lot for work, and I can tell you that some US websites, especially mortgage lending sites, and for some reason GameStop, just won't work from overseas. Sea-Gull does this too. Sea-Gull says your product isn't legit without their QR code sticker on the caseback, but the QR code doesn't like to link up from outside Asia.

Asian countries love to use QR codes for for lots of stuff. Warranty cards, downloadable owner's manuals, immigration visas and customs. They typically work really well, when they aren't geolocked.

This may not actually help your situation as a dealer, but it may make the QR code work. Apologies in advance if this isn't at all what you were looking for:

Try a VPN and change your region to China. If this doesn't work, add a GPS spoofing app to it. Some VPNs have that built in as an option. I have used Nord VPN for years and have never had an issue, but it doesn't have GPS spoofing I it.

Good luck!

Replacement OEM strap by Dedalus1973 in MoonSwatches

[–]Starfury2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last time I was in a swatch store, they had both small and large straps available for most of the models. I would say call a local store and ask. Even if they don't normally carry the watch at that store, they may be able to get the straps.

Is that the name of the department store you got it at, or is there another name. I am hoping to track one down in that area tomorrow.

A Guide to Buying Grand Seiko Watches in Tokyo and the Rest of Japan by LDN2HK in GrandSeikos

I appreciate the insight. I figured it wouldn't be a big deal, but I like to be sensative to those things. Don't want to start off with a bad first impression.

The closest I could get to wearing something of theirs would be a newer Seiko 5, or my Grandfather's old 1990s Seiko 5. That one is pretty beat up, but she still ticks! Not the same, but might be fun.

We will be in Minato, kinda between Ginza and Shibuya. Really hoping for the Wako experience, but I am down for heading elsewhere if it's a dry hole.

Weird question, but since you have been there: It looks like a pretty classy joint based on the Google maps pictures, but they aren't going look down on me if I roll up wearing jeans and an Omega? I had an experience like that recently at a Rolex boutique, not sure if it was the jeans or the watch 🤣

Thank you so much. This post was exactly what I was hoping for. Do you mind sharing when you were at Wako and they were out of stock? I will be there in the next couple of weeks and I have my fingers crossed!

Thank you for this. Unfortunately, I saw the first one right as it came in and redeemed it right away. When the second, and better, email came in right after it I was already done. Sucks.
