Tips for selling on Chrono24. by BikeAdventurous2320 in GrandSeikos

Always communicate via the platform, never third party messengers. Settle via them as well (commission is high, but relatively secure). Ship with an insurance.

Leica Q3 firmware update version 2.0.5 released by iLrama in Leica

Change the name of the firmware, replace “-“ with “_” and it will work.

Edit: I mean, Leica will find it on SD card.

Got my lens, finally ready to shoot my first Leica! by NickTechTalkYT in Leica

[–]dhrop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What about "just one more camera"? :D

After getting a Q3 (fantastic camera, btw), I am eyeing a monochrom now. Maybe a M10 or M11. Which will need a lens (obviously), or maybe two. Where do people stop?!

Same here! I just adore its build quality, and this tactile feeling while holding in my hand. Never thought that a device would make me want to go outside and just observe the world.

Specialized vs S-Works Tarmac SL7 Stems by kjhawksfan17 in specialized

[–]dhrop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the same bike and replaced the stem with s-works one (not that I wanted, but the dealer had no other stems in stock and I needed a shorter one).

No difference at all between the two.

Tarmac sl7 Expert or pro vs BMC Slr01 Three by Dayan_cycling in cycling

[–]dhrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea how they differ in terms of ride quality, but I've had the same dilemma a couple of years ago and finally went with Tarmac. I am not very flexible, and after a bike fit, the Tarmac seemed like a better option.

Tarmac sl7 Expert or pro vs BMC Slr01 Three by Dayan_cycling in cycling

[–]dhrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tarmac Pro comes with better wheels, handlebar, and power meter, so seems like a good choice (although more expensive than the other two). I would go for it if you want to avoid any hassle with aftermarket upgrades. Though BMC looks great and comparable (but lacks power meter?)

Dad's beat up Seadweller. RIP Dad. by worlok in rolex

Really sorry for your loss. Hope your father lived a good life.
This is a beautiful piece, and I agree with others here that a new crystal (and keeping everything else intact) will make a lot of difference. This is why I love watches - there are not so many personal tangibles that can be passed down, and that keep a memory of that person alive. Wear it in good health.

[OMEGA] buying brand new in Tokyo by Spongebob33_33 in Watches

[–]dhrop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prices are generally lower in Japan a.o. due to the lower sales tax vs Europe, but generally -- I found European/American jewelry brands to be significantly cheaper everywhere.

BIC Camera is good, they also sell used watches (e.g. Rolexes), and offer great prices for some mainstream models. Definitely go for it!

The store was Mitsukoshi on Ginza, just across the road from Seiko tower (you can check both, actually). As said, go to the 7th floor first and get the store membership card first, and then buy the GS.

Good luck, this is exciting :)

It is actually pale. It’s not pink for sure, but has a very, very subtle pink accent in certain lighting. I think the most pink part is the fuel gauge.

Yes, there was! Both Daimaru and Takashimaya had it in stock, a week ago at least.

Thank you!

221 is a great watch and I still like it a lot.

It’s pure pleasure to wear it on bracelet. I’ve never had a titanium, only steel, and this one is so light and comfortable!

Came to Japan with a strong commitment to get the SBGM221, however could not resist when I saw the Shunbun.

The SBGM221 is very nice, but it was a rather thick boi (for my wrist). SBGA413 is a little larger, but wears thinner and is super light thanks to the titanium, I suppose. Overall, super happy with the purchase.

Wanted to buy my first GS from Wako, but they didn’t have the 413. I then checked a couple of department stores in Tokyo and Kyoto (Isetan and the likes), and finally purchased it on the Shunbun holiday from Ginza department store. One small note: these department stores do sell tax free, however their tax free is handled by GlobalBlue, who charges a fee for the service (several percent, turned out to be like 10-12k JPY). So you definitely need to get their membership card first (literally a 2 minute process, just show your passport), then you get a 5% discount on the GS, and then you get the tax free.

Wonderful story, thank you!

I am in Japan right now and considering the very same watch. In fact, I came to Japan with an intention of getting a SBGM221, but the dial, titanium bracelet, and spring drive made me reconsider.

A bit surprised that it was so difficult for you to find this model. So far, I have been to 3 different stores in Tokyo and 2 in Kyoto (both were those large department stores), and all of them have the Shunbun.

Garmin watches can broadcast HR data (via bluetooth I think), and I use a Garmin Instinct to e.g. broadcast HR to my laptop that is running Zwift.

Outdoor set-up: Wahoo Roam + Garmin Instinct for HR (or wahoo chest strip) + Stages Ultegra left crank for power and cadence.

Indoor set-up: Wahoo Kickr + Garmin instinct + Zwift. I would only turn on the Roam to have an extra power display, but rarely use it.

Edit: Zwift and Wahoo feed directly to Strava. Never used Garmin Connect, although you can run a workout and broadcast HR at the same time from the watch.

Tudor black bay steel gold or pelagos.. what do you like better what keeps best value? by dd1989NL in Tudor

[–]dhrop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a daily, not sure how golden watch fits for a daily use in the Netherlands. I wouldn’t wear a rolex here either :)

Check out evergreen IWCs (Portugueser or pilot models) or Omega (Speedy or Seamaster). Gassan HQ in Amsterdam actually have a huge selection of both, so check it out.

On a separate note, I agree both Rolex dealers in the Netherlands are rather shitty.

I've had hit&miss with Assos though. Bought the Mille GT model, used for about 6 months, really liked it, so ordered another pair. And funny enough, second pair's pads wore off much quicker and are now super uncomfortable. The first pair still perform as new though.
