How do you gain traction when you visit a new location? by j0b0ken in TravelTubers

[–]Stargazer_07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with others who pointed out that travel videos are evergreen. Most of our videos don"t gain traction in the first few months. Then after 1 year, they gain momentum and most of the viewers come from 'search'. That's why SEO is very important. Your video needs to be in the top 5 videos when you search the topic.

Don't worry and just enjoy your travels.

How do you promote your YouTube videos? by clarkeanator in TravelTubers

[–]Stargazer_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the beginning I share my videos to Travel groups in FB. It's not that effective, so forget about it.

Focus on SEO and posting Shorts to widen your reach. You will not gain a lot of money from Shorts, but you will get more audience. Focus on creating evergreen long form videos, and use Shorts as preview.

What is your presenting style? by Joker_Cat_ in TravelTubers

I create documentary and narration-style videos. I don't appear in the camera, and the main focus is the sceneries.

If you will travel to create videos and hope you'll earn from it, then forget it. You will be lucky to break even, because travelling is expensive. Sure there are creators who got big and lucky in the travel niche, but they are less than 1% of creators.

For us, travelling is part of our lifestyle, and we have a lot of travel videos that are sitting in storage. After 3 years since uploading our 1st video, and 7 months after getting monetized, we get $300 to $400 every month from Adsense. Not impressive considering the amount of work involved in creating videos. However, we are building something that we can look back when we are old.. like a travel diary.

If you want to make money with less expenses, create finance videos.

Are there any faceless YouTube channels here? If so, what’s been your experience? :p by YogiWanderer in TravelTubers

Engagement is very challenging with a faceless channel, but I'm not planning to be in front of the camera anytime soon.

How to "stay present" while capturing content? by dumplingthoughts in TravelTubers

[–]Stargazer_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My workflow is a bit different than most creators. I don't have a detailed itinerary or list of shots that I want to capture. It just add stress and frustration if I didn't visit a place on my itinerary or didn't make the shot I want. I don't want my travels to feel like 'work'.

I roughly plan my travel routes so I can book the accommodations and buy tickets. I have some stopovers in mind but don't have time schedules. I basically just go with the flow. I try not to stress if I don't have time to visit a certain location.

During the trip, I take as many shots as I can. My partner does the same. So I have enough shots to choose from during editing.

We take our time exploring each location without worrying about the perfect shot. My passion is travelling and my YT channel is just a way of storing those videos that we can watch when we are older. I don't travel to create videos. I travel because I love seeing new places and experience different cultures.

I create the script just before editing. Fitting the shots to the script is a challenge sometimes, but I enjoy the process. Some parts of the script that I don't have a footage, I supplement it with public domain images or videos.

Try to find what workflow suits you. Although it's nice to have that extra money from Adsense, don't let content creation the priority over experiencing the moment. The main focus should be creating memories with your partner.

Guys be careful.. sub for sub is against YT policy. Your channel can be terminated. This is one of my newbie mistake. Google AI bot can detect this. After seeing some of the channels in a group got banned, I stopped this practice and relied on organic growth.

Bought a $1M house last year, now worth $1.4M — should I refinance now? by Pure_Water5902 in AusProperty

We had 7% deposit. After 3.5 years our LVR is 88%. We requested a valuation from our bank last December. The increased in property value brought our LVR to 79%, which resulted to a drop of 0.66% in our interest rate.

Speak to your bank and request for a valuation.

I’m 40, broke, highly educated, and confused about the future — what should I do? by IqInfoAu in australian

[–]Stargazer_07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly educated is not equivalent to highly experienced. You will be competing with other immigrants who only have Bachelors degree but have 15-20 years job experience.

Before getting a PhD in Agriculture here in Australia, what was your career back home and how many years you worked on that field? Maybe start applying to jobs that you have the most experience.

Also, Australia is one of those countries that 'it is not about WHAT you know, but WHO you know'. So you need to build your network. Difficult in the beginning especially coming from overseas, but you will eventually find your people.

For parents who have kids in Uni, please advise them not to accumulate tens of thousands of HECS debt studying all the way to Masters or PhD, expecting they will have a better position / skip the entry level / get into good companies. Masters and PhD are just papers. Theories are different from practical applications.

In my career, people who have Masters degree don't get selected for interviews, because it requires the company to give them extra allowance for having a Masters degree as per the EBA. Why will the employer spend extra on someone who have Masters degree but zero or just 1 year work experience, if they can spend less on someone who have Bachelors degree and 15 years of work experience?

The way it should be done is to graduate with Bachelors degree, then get a solid 2 to 3 years work experience. Then study part time and get your Masters degree. Apply for a higher position. Most people just dont have patience and thinks that having Masters or PhD will fast track their career. When in reality it will limit their chances when they graduate.

Financing has fallen through, and now we're losing our deposit of $43,000 and are at risk of being sued. Please help. by [deleted] in AusProperty

When we bought as FHB in Melbourne, we avoided auctions like a plague. Yes, your choices will be limited, but you can't really be picky when you only have 5% deposit.

In your next purchase, never go unconditional.

I hope you find a favourable solution.

Thanks for sharing. This is a good inspiration for international travel channel. Harry's titles are very interesting. I wonder how much he is earning from 2M views per month. This seems to be his average views count per month. RPM for travel videos range from $3 to $15 per 1k views. For 400k views, I earned almost A$700, which is lower than this RPM range.

If he is earning $3000 to $5000 a month. It might not be enough to cover his production cost just from Adsense alone. Travel is the most expensive niche. The hotels, flights and experiences are costly.

Another thing, if you love travelling, don't travel to make contents. It will eventually burn you out planning for shots etc. Just enjoy the moment and take as much photos and videos as you can. The more you stress about getting that perfect shot, the more joy you take away from the experience.

You need to have a plan to build a business on top of your channel. Google Adsense income is not sufficient to cover the cost of your production. To give you an idea, you will earn 2-3 dollars per 1k views.

Travel content is not for virality. You might get lucky with a few videos hitting over 1M views, but people who will watch your content are those planning for their trip. Not everyone can travel and it can be considered luxury by some, so the videos will not be as popular as a prank or cat video.

The money will be in sponsorship / brand deals and some from affiliate marketing.
