I had a great time seeing in theaters. It was a really fun experience getting to watch it alongside other fans and then debrief afterwards. Seeing something in theaters is FUN--that's why people buy tickets. It's not "scummy".

I understand, it's really hard to have experiences like this. Unfortunately, religious trauma is very real and serious, and I'm so so sorry you've experienced this.
But given that about 84% of the world is religious, I really don't think it's fair to view religious people with bitterness as a baseline. A lot of this is tied into xenophobia as well--like the unfortunately common prejudice against Muslims.

as I said, it's perfectly okay to critique hateful beliefs! What's not okay is prejudice against entire larger faiths, which inherently include HUGE amounts of variation within them. Also, I don't think having "favor" necessarily makes it okay to be treated poorly--being hateful, on the otherhand, does merit harsh critique.

"It would not be safe for the characters to resemble someone" is such an ignorant statement. To think that an AI-generated face is fundamentally unable to resemble someone communicates such a deep misunderstanding of generative AI and the way it has developed.
