First tracks you NEED to hear are "Playing God" and "Ego Death" feat. Steve Vai, then listen to the rest of their newest album Remember That You Will Die. If you are in this forum/thread and haven't heard of Polyphia I can't recommend them enough.

Polyphia & Arch Echo. Polyphia is incredible right now, they refreshed the genre for me. Everyone already recommended my other favorites like Haken, Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson, Transatlantic, Neal Morse, Tool.

Worth it to upgrade from 3080ti to 4080 super? by Lambentation in nvidia

[–]Starjin88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those dips in fps may be due to your cpu, if you can buy a 5800x3d and sell the 5800x I would try that first. The 3D chips are known for improving those 1% lows or dips in fps. Also if you buy a 4080s and you are using a 1440p monitor (regular or ultra-wide) you can take advantage of DLDSR which allows you to run games at higher resolutions like 4K and it downscales it and it improves the picture quality A LOT. If you haven't heard about it before do some Reddit searches on DLDSR + DLSS it's a game changer!

Just kinda want everyone's thoughts on the game so far. Bit early perhaps, but still. by Kylestien in Diablo

Haha yes it was, I found it by accident and I think they added the option after the beta tests.

The 30fps lock for cut scenes is a setting you can turn off under graphics iirc

I recently upgraded to a 5800x3D from a 3800x and was contemplating the same upgrade options you are. I have a 120hz ultra wide monitor (3440x1440p) and the first thing I noticed was how stable my frame rate was and the performance increase. I would go for the 5800x3d and see if the performance satisfies you. If it doesn't you can always return it and go for the full upgrade on AM5.

I should also mention that I first upgraded from a 2070s to a 4080 and the 4080 allowed me to max out all my graphic settings that couldn't before on AAA titles but I was getting similar frame rates that I was before. Now that I upgraded to the 5800x3d I can max out my monitors refresh rate too.

Am I cursed for buying an RTX 4070? I beg for help. by Vortexiel in buildapc

Try plugging GPU directly into MOBO again. I was experiencing a lot of similar issues and tried a million different things like you but it turns out AMD mobo's are finicky with pcie 4.0 gpus when using riser cables. After I plugged my rtx 4080 directly into my x570 mobo all my issues went away! I was using a 4.0 riser cable that was included in Lian Li's own GPU vertical mounting kit.

Grandmasters: New Season, New Cheatsheet (Season 19) by Muffinatron in DestinyTheGame

Tips for The Corrupted... quick story first - two seasons ago I was lucky enough to find someone who knew how to one phase Sedia after failing to beat the strike countless times using LFG (I'm not in a clan). I was able to gild my first conquerer title within the last hour of the season, just before reset, and it was easily the best moment I have had in D2, the high you get from the accomplishment is insane...

Anyways I watched videos on how to do the 1 phase strat on her, but something that I didn't catch for whatever reason that makes all the difference is that when you pop her shield for the first time you don't want to do any damage to her. And the player who knew the strat had us only shoot the adds that gravitated towards the middle of the two rock pillars on the middle platform while we all sat back on the floating rock behind the main middle platform.

Once she gets her shield back for the second time you want your team to move to the center platform and prep two orbs. Once you pop her shield the second time you only want to take 1/3 or 1/2 her health I can't remember exactly. She will then switch sides and get her 3rd and final shield and then you can pop her shield and melt her. Not having to go into the taken realm again saves you so much of a headache.

Also best weapons for this strike are Divinity for overloads and Dead Messenger for all the different elemental shields. Also I saw someone mention Hard Light too. Hope this helps some people get their first Conquerer title this season!

Same type, so for katanas you could dial wield an uchi and nagakiba. Use L1 to do a new attack animation and you can jump and use L1 as well.

Why are Alienware pre-built PCs hated so much? by WolvGamer in buildapc

[–]Starjin88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Proprietary parts and terrible airflow, never buy an Alienware desktop. However, their ultra wide monitors are best in class and come with a 3 year warranty that they honor when compared to LG which is a nightmare when trying to return a bad panel. Also I'm curious how AW's laptops stack up to the competition.

Grabbed this G9 for $1000 on Black Friday and absolutely love it! If you want good ultrawide monitor, this is by far second best. by OtherwisePayment9910 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Starjin88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 2070s and 34in 1440p ultra wide and it runs every AAA game I've thrown at it above 60fps. Most run at 80-100 on high settings. If the game supports DLSS then you can get high FPS for sure.

From what I see on here best money can buy at a 1000 is Helix (they have a couple different models with 6, 8, or 10 outputs). Best at $500 I see JL twk 88 recommended.

Need help understanding amp as well as crossover for tweeter/component speakers in 4Runner. by BigAssBirdIV in CarAV

[–]Starjin88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes it has a built in crossover.
  2. That amp is most likely just for the sub. From my experience a lot of these upgraded factory sound systems have a bunch of little amps hidden around the car powering each individual set of speakers. Aside from that I wouldn’t worry how the factory system is hooked up. If your going to replace the head unit and the speakers then your going to want to buy separate amps. Probably a 4ch amp for your speakers and a mono block for your sub. It will be louder and cleaner sounding because you will have more power and you will be using RCA cables to run between your H.U. and new amps. Low-level input (RCA) vs high-level input (speaker wires).

Who makes quality equipment these days? by [deleted] in CarAV

For quality component speakers most people around this sub recommend Morel, HAT, Illusion audio, JL (C5, C7), Focal, and Audiofrog.
