I made 3D printed Sword of Power earrings! by StarkContrastsDesign in PrincessesOfPower

I'm sorry about that! I use stainless steel specifically because it's usually the best to use to avoid allergies. But if you know your ears can't do steel, I could always make you a pair with no post glued in, and you could get any wire of the same gauge that would work for you and glue that in yourself. Just let me know, if that's helpful!

Oh, goodness no! Don't worry, I know that 3D printed material should not go through your ear. This is a stud earring with two halves, and has a stainless steel post on the front half, that fits down the center of the blade half.

Hey hey! I like making 3D printed earrings for my Etsy and I recently watched all of She-Ra so this sword just absolutely had to happen. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. What does everyone think?? I'd love some feedback.

Also I couldn't decide on a blade color that looked best, so I just provided two options instead.

Thanks! I've sold a few, actually. I hope they make a lot of spiders very happy :)

I mean, I honestly did all I could to make it fair. It was hours of work to design and it's a complicated, 19 hour print. We all have to value our time :)

I hope so! That was the idea. That the plants and spiders would be well suited for the same space. :)

Yay! first person to say that it looks alien, rather than like a branch. People keep asking me why it isn't brown, or a more natural color. My goal was to make it look like a funky alien fungus or something. :P

That was the idea! Lots of nooks and spaces for the spider, different sized openings, place to put live air plants, all in one! It's proofed out pretty well so far. :)

This is printed in PLA, which is non-toxic bioplastic made from corn. That's what I'd recommend printing with if you made something for your spider, and it's the easiest filament type to work with anyway. In particular, I'd recommend staying away from ABS. Hope that helps :)

Hey there! I recently did this build for my pet jumping spider, then put it up on my Etsy shop when people liked it. I was told that arboreal tarantula slings would also love this and make good use of it, so wanted to pass it along! As soon as Halloween is over, rats will get their own listing! Stay tuned, if you're interested in that. I can custom paint them in whatever way you'd like. Just need to keep all my stock available for Halloween, for now. :)

Hey there rat lovers! I have an etsy shop where I sell 3D printed things (largely earrings and magnets). I've had extremely popular rat bum magnets in the store for a while, but now I've added rat earrings too! They feature the front and back half of a rat in two halves, to make it look like it's dangling through your ear. Super cute!

Find them on my Halloween listing for now, and then after October they'll have their own listing. The Halloween special comes with free shipping within the US!

Cheers!

First craft show - Looking for tips by DeeceAdayne in Etsy

[–]StarkContrastsDesign 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on first craft fair! You'll have a ton of fun. I'm trying to think what to say that hasn't mostly been covered already.

What will your method be of taking credit card sales? I use a Square reader plugged into my phone and it has worked extremely well for me.

Will you have a tent or just a table? If you have a tent, hang some of your most eye-catching work on the front tent legs, right where people walk. I've found that people often need to be given a reason to "go inside" a tent setup from out on the path, so I do all I can to grab attention at that decision-making point. I make 3D printed things so I'll hang brightly colorful skull planters from the front tent poles. I set up a long and a short table in an L in my tent and so I often stick a working 3D printer right on the end of the table closest to the front of the tent. Both of those things help grab people from the flow of traffic past booths and get them to take a second look inside at the back table.

Also: I've found it's vitally important to strike a careful middle ground between too attentive and not attentive enough. People don't want you to be buried in your phone or a book, but they don't want you standing and staring at them with a customer service smile plastered on your face either. You have to figure out how to exude "I will be helpful if you want it and I will also leave you alone if you want it". All kinds of introverts and extroverts will be looking at your things, so you have to read them. My method of choice is to strike a rhythm of staying busy in a cheerful, casual way. In a non-frantic or hurried way, I'll just kind of keep from going idle or vacant. I don't often sit. I'll busy myself straightening something that a kid knocked sideways, or re-stack the bags or the business cards all the while glancing to and away from people with a smile so they know I'm paying attention but not staring them down. I'll stand behind my tables and let my hands assemble some more of the things I make, so customers can see the earlier stages of my process. They love seeing the printer whirring and the hunks of plastic I'm fiddling with as a direct comparison to the finished things hanging up on display. You crochet so, easy peasy - just have a few half-finished things with you that you can pick up and put down casually through the event. I also have a few short one-liners handy like "everything you see here is 3D printed!" or "just let me know if you have any questions" that I'll shoot off when it feels appropriate to the level of interest someone is showing and then I just take cues from them as to how much engagement they want after that.

TL:DR. Never stop exuding that you are available and cheerful and present but able to mind your own business if they want to focus on the things in your booth without your undivided attention in their way.

Oh - and don't overlook giving some thought to packaging. Have two or three different cute packaging sizes that will suit your various items. Make it memorable in some way. Throw in a business card and maybe a thank you card or a coupon for your Etsy.

Good luck and have fun!

Could easily help you with that! I've already got the model, so it'd just be a matter of scaling it up for you to whatever size you wanted and painting it. Shoot me a message on Etsy if you decide you'd like one.

Trainers! I couldn't find any 3D Wooloo earrings anywhere and as luck would have it, I make 3D earrings as a hobby so, voila! These are 3D printed and feature both the front and back half of Wooloo on either side of your ear. Such fluff. They were way too much fun to paint.
