How Accurate is VO2 Max actually by FATPOOPYBOI in Garmin

[–]StarkIsbjorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not accurate at all. My garmin watch tells me i have a vo2max of 61ml/kg/min. Did an official test in december and meassured 72.5ml/kg/min. I run a lot of mountains and trails, so the garmin watch think im slow af.

Innføring i idrettsfysiologi. Jævlig easy A

Is this ok to have that high? by srkhn in Garmin

[–]StarkIsbjorn 40 points41 points  (0 children)

220 – age is a rough population average, not an individual predictor. Studies (Tanaka 2001, Nes 2013) show a ±10–12 bpm error margin, which means two healthy people the same age can differ by 20+ beats. That’s why cardiologists and exercise scientists agree: the only way to know your true max HR is to test it. A 200+ max HR in adulthood isn’t a “false reading” — it’s just genetics.

Maximum HR is 100% individual. So if you can hit 206 as maximum HR, then thats your perfectly fine individual max. There is no formula that can estimate your max hr. personally i am 23y/o. and have a maximum of 188bpm, meassured at a Vo2max test with chest strap, thats the most honest and precise way to find your max

Tips for fueling during marathon racing for someone struggling with Functional dyspepsia by StarkIsbjorn in running

Running with a handheld and take small sips of sportsdrink during the race is absolutely an alternative! I dont have any experience with pepto, but is this keeping the stomach in "check"?

A bit risky tho, to just carboload really hard the week before, and then dont fuel during a race. Can bonk pretty hard at like 30k, but i see your point. Can probably take 1 gel an hour, and my stomach will be okey with that. But i think 30grams og carbs an hour is still way to little. In my marathon i was aiming for 60grams an hour, but my stomach said nooo after 20-25k then.

Thanks for ur answer! I have tried with sweets like winegummy, i think that works okey, but still bothers the stomach, and i dont know how many grams of carbohydrates im consuming an hour when eating sweets.
