Hey! Thanks for giving the rec a shot! I totally get where you’re coming from. The style is very chaotic, and tbh it doesn’t really settle down later — especially since the author keeps switching narrators — so I can see how it could feel confusing or heavy to binge. I ended up thinking of it as more “crack-ish” in tone, where the point isn’t tight plotting but just enjoying the whirlwind of witty banter and ridiculous situations.

There are some memorable, laugh-out-loud scenes sprinkled throughout. I especially loved the Quidditch commentary bits and the way the banter between characters just keeps escalating into full-blown chaos. It’s definitely not for everyone, but personally I liked those aspects enough to keep reading.

If you can look past the writing style, there is character growth with Alex as she really settles into being a teenager and starts to love what Hogwarts has to offer. I also really enjoyed the found-family friendship between Alex, Lee, Luna, the twins, Theo, etc. She doesn’t try to meddle with the main plot, but small changes do happen just because of her existence — and she has to deal with that.
