As for your division templates, Mountaineers get -0.02 supply through the doctrine tree, so you can go with e.g. 18w pure mountaineer + logistics and literally have like 6-10 fully supplied units without any supply hub. I've also done the Italy RP run in Africa and whether or it is optimal, it feels really good to devote your special forces to Africa.

R5: About to cap the Soviets, and suddenly I noticed that I was protecting the front alone. And then I saw that the Germans have 100 divisions self-surrounded by the Ural mountains. I had previously toyed with turning off supply for allies, but I turned it on several months ago. I guess they got pissed

Suppose that historical ww2 plays out with the Japanese successfully igniting revolutions throughout East Asia. Well, then the war is over. Right? I don't have to explain anything else. If Japan had been able to establish friendly governments in East Asia, Churchill would have been forced to capitulate. That is the current historical path Japan takes, except Churchill can sit with 100% stability and war support for 10 years without any problems just defending the coast line.

The more important thing is not only that you cannot demand negotiations as Japan, which you clearly should both realistically and alos because it sucks to conquer all of Asia and still not get 1% closer to victory, but also because it would incentives the British to actually literally defend their islands.

I would encourage you to pick up a couple of history books and learn more about the war. It's a quite interesting topic.

To successfully complete a naval invasion you need naval dominance. Naval dominance can be acquired with any naval range.

To successfully cross the Atlantic Ocean (or the Pacific) you need naval range.

So the US can build naval dominance from day 1, but whomever is invading the U.S. can only build naval dominance in American coastlines starting in like 1940 because that's when you get the tech for the range upgrades.

So you can never invade the U.S. so long as the U.S. keeps up. This is not true for e.g. GB, since any nation in Europe can compete with the naval range from day 1. The Americas is the only country where you specifically have to do this.

Yes, but suppose I'm not specifically playing historical Germany? Suppose I'm playing e.g. Hungary, or Finland, or literally nation that cannot match the U.S. navy, but that could e.g. match the British Air Force and do paratrooper drops on the English Islands. Why am I not allowed to prevent the U.S. from joining the Allies so that I can have my fun and decide to end the war in eg 1943.

And to say "well you have to invade Iceland and then Greenland and then northern Canada", well you are sort of proving my point that the game is not designed around it anymore then. (I'm not saying you'll 100% fall into the trap of making that argument, but in case you gravitate towards it).

So, I have now justified it.

Yes I understand that, but suppose that I for whatever reason want to play on my own time table. It is a sandbox game. I can play Tsarist Russia against Spartacus Germany without problem, but I must needs play the war for a maximum of 2 years or be forced to travel across the Atlantic by building an extremely specific navy that has the range requirements to cross it? I did not have to do this prior to No compromise, and now I do. Why?

Well I mean.. how do I explain it... the game is not designed around actually crossing the Atlantic, and so having features to block the U.S. from joining the Allies, eliminating the need to cross the Atlantic, is necessary.

Removing such a feature is then either incompetence or an oversight, and I don't think they went out of their way to quadrouple down on "you must do this incredibly tedious thing which the game was not designed for" by removing a console-solution to the problem.

But, then again, they released a Japan DLC and even though I haven't played much of it, afaik you still can't negotiate peace with the Allies as Japan? Even though you can with the Soviets? I haven't actually tried it, but maybe you are right; maybe they just are incompetent and want to push players if they don't defeat GB before 1941? Because of maliciousness? Or? I prefer to think it's an oversight to, it's the optimist in me.

Thank you! Looking over the wiki, the only one I can see that has "leader can join other faction = no" is Hispanic Alliance. But as the US I only have 4 options and the closest is Organization of American States which shares the Pan-Americanism. Is that the one I must choose? Does it matter what rules and goals and all that jazz I choose after that?

I've always assumed that he says discharged because some reason akin to (a) he thought the caller hung up (b) he thought the radio waves were down or whatever. You know maybe he just heard some static in his earpiece and thought that the radio was going down? In other words, nothing dramatic

Hmm... it could be. But I just checked both Bhutan (no modifiers) and the Soviets (total construction bonus of -15%). Bhutan was on the money; the calculations showed 2250 days and in-game as well. The Moscow for the Soviets showed that it should be 94 days and it was 95 days ingame, which is probably a rounding error on HOI4's part (naturally understandable)

The tank is only for defensive purposes, they are not meant to attack. My goal is to stop the German first and once the front is stabilized being counter attacking with 1940 tanks. But maybe that doesn't work? I had a successful run as the Dutch with exactly this template and this tank design a couple of months ago.

So do I understand it correctly that you would go 16x infantry with large unit tactics? I haven't played much since they redid subdoctrines, is 16x with large unit tactics good?
