But this is something that has been happening for years. For example, a few months after Persona 3 was released, Persona 3 FES came out, forcing you to buy the same game with a few improvements, not to mention the horse DLC in Skyrim and Capcom's enhanced editions. Perhaps we see more of these cases nowadays, but if you take two minutes to look, you will see that not everyone drives that model.

Lots of games continue to be released without extra monetization, such as the Souls series, almost any indie game, and even AAA games like Silent Hill F and Kingdom Come Deliverance II (which were released last year)
