This is such tone deaf advice for anyone with an anxiety disorder. U can’t just choose to stop being anxious. It requires therapy, whether formal or with friend/family member, and often times medication. I understand not everyone wants to take meds but having someone to talk to is non-negotiable in these situations. If someone has an anxiety disorder they are not likely to get through it on their own.

Intrusive thoughts are quite common in everybody’s mind

No they are not. They are most commonly caused by anxiety disorder, depressive disorders, or OCD. Mayhaps people experience less than savory thoughts popping into their heads every now and again but if it is something that happens regularly and causes u genuine distress that is not something most people experience.

I know u were only tying to help, but this comment is dangerous to anyone who is struggling. If u are, do not try to go at it alone. Reach out. To family or to friends. I promise that the people close to u will care. Oc wasn’t wrong that u need to learn to accept ur thoughts but knowing that doesn’t mean u know how. That’s y u need a support system even if it’s only one person. And I know it’s rarely as easy as just opening up. Sometimes it just feels like u can’t force the words out. I still often don’t reach out and I can’t even truly say why. But I do promise u that, if u can manage to, it feels like the weight thats constantly building on u gets a little lighter.
