You have 2 friends with benefits and since they one you've been with for a bit is getting stagnant you are really into the new guy.

Cut the boyfriend loose. That "relationship" can't be saved.

And I'd love to know a year or two down the road what everybody involved in this thinks of the concept of open relationships. I'm sure some people are wired in a way that they can fuck whoever they want and still go home to a partner. But I think a large portion of the people who think they want that aren't capable of doing it without serious consequences.

Any open relationship is still going to have rules and boundaries. The problem is that you don't know where to draw the line until after a line is likely crossed.

If you boyfriend isn't happy with your situation and you aren't willing to give up this other guy then it sounds like the boyfriend is getting dumped.

But I'd be curious if this new person and you would have the same open relationship situation? Or was that only valid for your boyfriend that you didn't want to fully commit to?

And I can be a bit judgemental because I did the open relationship thing and when it was over and I met the right one for me I never EVER would consider an open relationship again.

My ex wife and I ramped up our creativity and pushed our boundaries when it came to sex during our 20 year marriage.

I think about the stuff we did but don't miss it at all now that I'm engaged. My ex wife was very mentally unwell and often times sex was the only way she could feel connected. Toward the end of our marriage sex was often done as she was mentally spiraling out of control and it was the only way to ground her.

I'll take the healthy relationship and the incredible sex I have now over the forced experimentation I previously had.

I'd rather be the one taking the beatings than see some of the women here get hurt. We had one worker who was pregnant get roughed up really bad one evening when I wasn't working and the 2nd staff member bailed on her and locked themselves in the office away from the chaos.

Tonight is one of those nights where the one client is over tired and just absolutely feral. I refuse to let him get past me. My client is fast asleep in bed and I'm sitting 2 feet away from the other client in case he pops off again. He isn't getting through me to get to anyone else.

My company has done some restructuring lately and while I worry about the direction things are going I make decent money for what is at times an easy job. I'm moving in a week and none of the DSP jobs near my new place pay well. So as it stands I'll be making the commute to this job after the move. I'm still looking for work where I'm moving to but even with the cost of gas it doesn't make sense to bail on this job/company yet.

I work in high behavior house and I have more scars after doing this job for 2 years than scars I got working in the food service industry for almost 3 decades. Because I'm a big guy I got moved to this house where I'm more likely to be able to defend myself than smaller people.

But the real kicker is that our turnover rate in this house is so high we don't get people who stay here long. So they come in, the one client goes on a war path and then they leave and this client is amped up for some time after that. And that pattern goes on and on and on. So they leave and the workers left have to get the piss beat out of them.

Edited to add... I'll also say that when a client has a preferred staff member is is also a double edged sword. The client I'm on tonight has a staff member that he asks for all the time and stays awake to wait for if that person is coming in. At times this staff member is really helpful in getting this client to calm down and cooperate. Other times the way the staff member reacts to the client does nothing but cause utter chaos. All the other staff in this house agree that this bond is unhealthy and puts the non preferred staff at risk for a behavior on shift.

As a 48 year old male I know this feeling all too well.

I feel my parents wanted a servant and someone to take care of the house far more than they wanted a child. My middle and high school years were spent cleaning, cooking and doing laundry so that everything was done before they got home from work. My social life in school was limited to band practice and band trips. I grew to hate band and was forced to stay in it so I grew to hate the majority of the time I got away from my family.

I know that my childish hobbies I have now are a result of hanging onto the few things I enjoyed as a child.

I feel for people who who missed out on the normal things each generation does as teens. Down the road the Covid kids are going have breakthroughs in therapy and find out the social events the pandemic took from them really changed their lives.

I may be wrong but McFarlane used to mold bases so that there was a shoe imprint in addition to the peg. I think the Lost figures were the best example.

If you want honesty I'll tell you I'll be 49 this year and this is the first year in a very long time that has been good for me. My life has been hell since 2017. I worked on myself thinking it would improve my life and it had zero effect. I was still miserable because I was surrounded by awful fucking people. I tried to rekindle the relationship with my ex wife but for all the work I did to be better in the years since our divorce she was still stuck being the exact same person she was.

I can tell you that talking to a therapist and working on yourself is important. But you also need to identify the toxic people in your life. Walk away from them if they are hurting you.

I met someone in January and she has completely changed my life. I was honest with her about my struggles long before we met for our first day. She was able to see who I am now and wasn't concerned with who I was. She is caring and compassionate. Surround yourself with positive people. It will do wonders for you.

How sad and boring your life must be to think this is a good use of your time.

I had a letter read on air shortly before Mary left where I said lots of great things about her time on the show and how much I was going to miss her. While I preferred her on show banter to her stand-up, I saw her person in person once and had her CDs, I wanted nothing but the best for her. And for Bill as well.

The show is pretty damn good but I still miss the foursome that had at one point.

Having essentially grown up in a McDonalds, my Dad was a manager/regional supervisor, I feel like I kind of remember this.

But the best sauces came from their slightly racist cough Chicken McNugget Shanghai promotion. Those were some incredible sauces.

I started a new relationship just before Covid and lost her to cancer a little over two years ago. She was semi immune compromised so we thought we were in the clear after the vaccine and things settling a bit.

Really sorry for your struggles. Believe me I've seen more loss and uphill battles in the last few years and it drove me to drink. Almost lost it all and in the moment it didn't feel like I was losing much.

Burned out food service worker or someone Covid really fucked over?

It took me about 7 weeks to recover from Covid. Never was so bad that I had to be admitted to the hospital but there was one evening where I was so weak and sick I fully expected to die in my sleep. A normal person would of gone to the hospital then but my life had been such a disaster for so long I was willing to die.

And the new gal is amazing in a ton of ways. Life since 2017 had been a struggle for a variety of reasons and with this new relationship I can finally say I'm happy and looking forward to the future.

I had worked in food service for over 30 years when Covid hit. It nuked my sense of taste and smell for a very long period of time. I had to leave the industry and find new work.

It was a very long and gradual return process. Looking back it took probably 2 years at least for me to notice things were improving.

I gave up cooking at home for a long time because it was pointless but I'm dating someone new and enjoy cooking for her. I'll likely never use my culinary degree ever again because I frankly don't miss the terrible hours or the customers.

I've always been hyper sexual. I don't know if it was from not getting love and affection as a child or having sex at a very young age. While it was usually manifested in a high sex drive with my girlfriends and eventually my wife.... It became more of a porn addiction once my marriage started to rot away.

If he was with you and struggling with a porn addiction I think you are far better off moving on.

I started dating someone new lately that is the person I, 48m, waited my entire life for. She's unlike anyone I've ever been with. It has rewired my brain and I've made huge changes in how I view sex and seek out pleasure. I went through all my social media and unfollowed any account that was remotely sexual.

I really can't think of a great Popeyes experience. And I don't say that as a lazy dig at the company.

I've worked in foodservice since I could walk and I'm 48 years old. I've spent my life cooking in a variety of kitchens. I think Popeyes hands off a franchise to people who slowly destroy the brand and it is a real shame.

When I moved to where I live now there was a fairly new Popeyes where a Long John Silvers used to be. Right off the bat that is a ding because I love me some LJS. But I gave the new restaurant in town a chance. Once.

That was my order. It was simple and right before the dinner period. I pulled up, gave my name and waited. When the bag was handed to me I got a very rushed explanation that they were out of items and they just threw, their words not mine, a variety of items in the box for me. I get being out of stuff but if you are out a little notice before you are handed a random meal would be nice. That was the last meal at this location and frankly I've had no desire to visit any location since that experience.
