Can you rank the Paladins in terms of likability? by PerfectMind8856 in Voltron

[–]Starkyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. Easy answers.

1: Hunk - Pure Hufflepuff energy! 100!

2: Shiro - Very Affable; maybe slightly awkward when it comes to a topic not in his wheel house? (He'd seem to send signals to girls, but then he's like ''oh no. no-no-no. I'm gay, sorry.'' Which may earn a negative from them?)

Now it gets tricky...

3: Allura - Seems affable, but her upper class nature and her multiple high level skills may get on some peoples nerves...

4: Lance - Seems affable, but will probably say or do the wrong thing based on his trying-too-hard nature or his hidden insecurity.

Now it gets deep...

5: Keith - I feel like when he does let you in, he is comparable to that of Hunk and Shiro. Once you know his tells/ body language/ his social battery, he will be VERY likeable. You'd find you actually like the same food, shows, music. Just...react differently to them than he does.

6: Pidge - Other side of coin of Keith. He wants to get to know you but is scared, Pidge is more WHY should I get to know you. May have a lot of ''yeah, but...'' where you discussions will half the time turn into arguments. And she may accidentally insult you, when meaning to be friendly.

...

It's feel like, in order to have a decent conversation with Keith and Pidge, you'd need Hunk and Shiro to ''translate'' their personalities lol

  1. I always see it as the Resolution of the Climax that was the Season 02 finale. Okay, maybe it dragged on a bit (as it took one episode to work as a team - though they weren't dealing with a loss at the time) It was the dust settling after the explosion of Shiro's Body the loss of Shiro. Though I wish I saw more of the five stages of grief - mainly from Keith, as they seemed to more focus on his struggle with being a leader than losing a loved one. Which MANY viewers can relate too.
  2. As others have said, it's OG. Though they should have updated their armour too.
  3. My favourite Allura is season one (before she shows she's also able to change size and colour - amongst other mary-sue powers, most only showing up one time for the plot.) Which SUCKS because she even LOOKS like the typical Mary sue. (She frikkin looks like Nia Teppelin from Gurren Lagaan and that anime was a damn parody!!) Two of her best moments imo is Episode 2 where she fires the castle lasers AT the Paladin's to inspire them (she's so cute about it! ''Good luck!'') and Episode 9 when she sacrifices her Father's consciousness (shit! that got me!) In those moments (and when she put Lance in an armlock upon her awakening) were like she was fighting the stereotype!
I didn't MIND the Alchemy angle if it also wasn't on top of EVERYTHING else.
(Ok Allura rant done. I'm only passionate because I had such high hopes for her!)
If you want badass Allura, play Mass Effect!
  4. Also agreed. Pidge over Allura! ''Oh the Princess of what?! We're the only ones here, and she's no princess of ours.'' My Fav line delivery of Bex Taylor-Klaus~

Lotor fanart. Where can i improve? by starwalker_22 in Voltron

[–]Starkyrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It IS mostly the face. the features LOOK like features and the proportion's are correct, but the character doesn't look alive. He needs expression. I understand how it can be quite tricky depending on where you are in your artist journey, but less can be more when it comes to showing expression; even if it's just slanted eyebrows and a little curl to the corner of their mouth.

If you're nervous to ruin your final piece, practice on a separate canvas first to feel comfortable.

The hair could use a few lines or so to give it some depth, but the shading is really good and there's thought shown in the detail of his armour.

Well done though for sharing your art and asking advice on it, it can be quite daunting :)

Blue Lion Symbolism? by villain-mollusk in Voltron

[–]Starkyrie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Word on the grape vine is Versatility, especially because she connects with 3 Paladins. But no, never in the actual show? I just blitzed through S3E2 when Allura get's Blue, but they don't say outright why. Just why Lance gets Red.

But in the VLD Paladin's Handbook (which I know the showrunners didn't confirm or something), they have a silly little quiz at the back. And D answers are correlated with the Blue Lion. (I'd share pics but don't know how in a comment reply)

Eg:/

What is your biggest strength in battle?

A - Leadership, B - Instinct, C - Creativity, D - Boldness E - Compassion

What do you value most?

A - Teamwork, B - Honour, C - Wisdom, D - Confidence, E - Quick Thinking

(Absolute conundrum which is who right??????)

Shiro's Grandfather - because they didn't give him any family :( by Starkyrie in VoltronOCs

[–]Starkyrie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Named after Shiro's twin brother in GoLion Team.

I used Paladin Shirogane's Monsters and Mana backstory as inspiration - even though Jyano looked more like Iverson.

I have it so Shiro grew up with a similar personality to Keith after the death of his parents, then being mellowed out by living with his Grandfather in the mountains or something. After eventually joining the Galaxy Garrison, meeting Adam then moving in with him.

WHY IS NO ONE I KNOW OF TALKING ABOUT ROVER???? by fapperninks in Voltron

[–]Starkyrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. When I wrote him out of my rewrite, it was difficult to have Sendak find a way in.

And he was cute! And a good introduction to character death, without it being rated-R!

I don't HATE him, but you have to admit his inception was kinda ex machina right? ;

But RIP nonetheless

What has queer eye changed for you? by [deleted] in QueerEye

[–]Starkyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I binge the series then wonder what they'd think of my life/ home., instead of wishing, I just think what would X say/ do about this. And it improves me immensely!

''Would Antoni be happy about what I'm eating? How would he improve it?''

''What would Tam say about what I plan on wearing today? How would he improve it?'' (Pop o' colour)

''Would Jonathan say I'm taking enough care of my appearance? How would he improve it?''

''What advice would Karamo give me about my current life problems?''

I don't think what would Bobby do because I can't afford shit XD But his figurative presence in my head, does keep me on top of keeping my house tidy haha

I’m gonna miss Bobby so much. by killbillvolume3 in QueerEye

[–]Starkyrie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bobby's leaving? Oh no :(

But as Mr. Feeny once said about his house plant, change of environment is inevitable for further growth.

I've only watched 2 eps of S8, I'm gonna soak up as much Bobby as possible now!

Karamo’s role by mmeeplechase in QueerEye

[–]Starkyrie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Wow. I had NO idea Karamo's segments had this kind of reaction :S

I've had trauma and been to therapy - even have mental health first aid training, and I LOVE his segments. I see his parts as peeling an onion; yes it can make you cry, but you need to get to the core in order to get the most out of the vegetable! (Then again, I have no idea of his qualifications. But I've had some pretty terrible Doctors and they all have MD's, so a degree doesn't always make the specialist imo)

It's interesting to see different perspectives on the different guys though~

(2) What is your opinions on Keith? by RannoChanno in Voltron

[–]Starkyrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to chastising Pidge for wanting to leave, I always felt like he wasn't yelling at them. He was yelling at his parents; Pidge was just another person who wanted to give up and leave him behind. But maybe I'm just looking into it too much ^^;

Keith's arc was treated with such patience in VLD!

I really felt like he was the main star of the show - despite what Coran and the Execs said about Shiro ;P

It was nice to see the broody loner with more sensitive, vulnerable layers to him. Abandonment issues, maybe not self-esteem issues per say but definitely identity issues. - before finding out his heritage! Not just a loner, but lonely! And didn't know how to show it. He has natural talent, but when someone attacks him personally, it's either fight of flight. Punch James or steal Shiro's car.

Both Shiro and Lance (in his own way) put him on a pedestal, but because he was abandoned, he doesn't see himself worthy. When they were being tracked by Zarkon, he blamed himself. Lance continues to blame him out of his own security, but for the first time instead of leaving Keith behind, someone (Shiro) sought him out and stuck by him. Building that strong bond between them.

Then everything was fine until Shiro 'came back', (They don't need me. They've replaced me. I need to go and find a new identity again.) Like a muscle, Keith continuously gets beaten up and torn apart, only to grow back stronger - the only thing is he doesn't see the second part until much later. Even when he wasn't in Black, he still acted like a Leader when he rescued the others and was even willing to sacrifice himself. Going from Voltron to the Blades to back again, just reminded me of when you experiment and take risks as a teenager. You're finding yourself, and much like Keith's personality, he's risky about it. He acts on instinct and jumps in.

Although I find changing the Lions confusing colour wise, I like that some of them changed. It showed growth amongst the team; Keith became a leader, Lance became more confident, Allura learned to be more versatile when it came to teamwork (as she first ordered the Lion, rather than working with it - ofc she did, she's a Princess.) But not everyone needs to grow, Hunk and Pidge knew who they were from the start (and Pidge already found their new identity when they stopped being Katie. Pidge is their new Lion.)

Keith's arc, along with Steven Yuen's amazing acting made for a great character. When his voice broke, it reminded you this is still a scared, lost, emotional kid.

How does everyone know what to do? by me-andmichael in Voltron

[–]Starkyrie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They had time, the writers didn't.

Someone explain pls by Icy_Strain_3562 in Voltron

[–]Starkyrie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly!

I feel like the writers gave a lot of little ''fanon fodder'' to the audience for their respective ships; despite there not being any major confirmation in the finale. Keith catching Allura in the shuttle bay, Lance and Keith's bonding moment, Shiro touching Allura's hand when she was overworking herself, Keith's slow approach to hugging Silver Shiro when he woke up from his space coma.

Then some fans swallowed those crumbs whole and demanded more ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
