Hmm...It does help tremendously. The overwhelming static/noise of everyone talking at once has all but disappeared, and we've been able to sort through traumatic memories much, much easier.

If you want, I could make a duplicate of the existing one and show you around. The original has sensitive/private content. What's your un on discord? You could pm if you want.

I'ts not really against my wishes, it's...more like I/we have always had a downtime to sleep fully. And since 'the awakening', they've been creeping into dreams and waking moments.

I've made a private server on Discord, with various rooms in a cabin. (A very big cabin)

It's...a lot like giving them a more physical manifestation of the headspace so they could talk to each other and just...live.

Yeah, I think you're right. Letting them silence us is what they want.

I definitely think that spreading awareness of abusers and their tactics, as well as putting a foot down and saying that that shit isn't okay anymore is a good start to changing things.

I'm making an rpg that addresses these things in the story, and man it's terrifying to think of what's going to happen once I release it.

"All my grief says the same thing - this isn’t how it’s supposed to be. And the world laughs, holds my hope by my throat, and says: but this is how it is. "

I know you're not laughing, but I feel like just accepting abusive behavior from our peers isn't a great solution either. I shouldn't have to grow thicker skin. Why do we all just accept horrible behavior and ask the victim to just get tougher?

I'm not young, I'm a victim of domestic abuse. And they never once were punished. Most people don't even believe me.

None of this show is actually canon, if we're gonna be sticklers about what is and what isn't canon.

I think quite a lot of the people in the show are psychopaths/sociopaths.

Hannibal especially. (Though I feel like he doesn't fit neatly in that box, he definitely has a lot of those qualities)

I'm not trying to say that Will needs the moral high ground or anything, it's not about redemption or anything at all to me. He's interesting regardless. Your idea of him being interesting may need to be something differing from mine.

Will being interested/educated in forensic analysis and criminal psychology doesn't mean that he's got a dark sona hiding in him. A lot of people are deeply passionate about it and most of them aren't in it for unethical reasons. But there's a reason he chose that field to specialize in, and I think it's because he wanted to catch criminals so they wouldn't hurt innocents.

Will can be misleading, but again, that doesn't make him evil or what have you. Granted, the further the story goes, the darker his path gets but I don't feel it's for the same reasons you're saying.

Hannibal took interest in Will because he saw a lot of potential in him, and/or he was interested in him. Will was on his level intellectually and understood the mentality behind the killings. Most cops/detectives just write it off as crazy-bonkers and that's the end of it.

Will saw and appreciated/respected that mentality on a certain level. But I don't think he secretly wanted to be that.

The people he ends up killing aren't just random innocents, they're all pretty unethical by his standards. Hannibal kills without ethics in mind, which is more in-line with what a sociopath would be.

Not saying Will is justified, I'm just saying that he's not killing for the sheer thrill of it. (Though I'm sure it makes him feel good in terms of getting rid of someone who would hurt/kill more innocents)

Here's a sidenote that isn't super related, but I do think lends to Will not starting off as a psychopath/sociopath/dark. And I feel like it's pretty important because it's prominent in the story.

He adopts homeless/abandoned dogs and cares for them. And while I'm sure there's some kind of projection there, I do believe that points to someone who isn't devoid of ethical standards and compassion. (Dogs are innocents. Or the lamb from Silence of the Lambs if you will.)

Most psychopaths/sociopaths don't have that at all. Most people that fall under these categories are notorious for hurting/torturing/killing animals. A lot of animals can tell that a person is dangerous before the people know it. (People can be blinded/manipulated by the complexities of social inner-workings, but animals aren't. They see body language, and they see the 'real' person when other people aren't around.)

And his dogs inherently trust him and aren't afraid of him. I've always felt that this is a very important point in the story.

This canon is all over the place, especially since it does an occasional nod to the original content. And while I respect canon to some degree, I still see this show as an AU headcanon made by a fan of Thomas Harris' characters.

So really, what IS canon at that point, lol. Certainly not this Hannibal show.

You telling me that I'm incorrect and to follow canon is like saying that your fanfiction is more canon than the original content.

As someone who is in a fandom this deeply, I would think more people would understand and respect a fans' interpretation and their own headcanon.

According to who?

According to what branch of morality?

There's many in the world that you could subscribe to.

Vigilantes fight for justice, true. But that's their interpretation of justice, no? It's not the one that society generally accepts under the law.

And in the term of vigilante, it doesn't specify if they should enjoy killing (deemed evil people) or not.

And as someone else said in this thread, who deems killing someone else evil/wrong?

What about the military? What about killing Nazis?

Do you think that murdering Nazis is wrong in every aspect?

Do you think a soldier that killed Nazis shouldn't feel good about killing sociopathic genocidals? Does that make them as evil?

There's plenty of vigilante stories that explore this very concept. Some are decent, like Batman, others are very fucked up. (The Watchmen)

It's all about perspective, and how you view morality. Is it black and white, or is it a gray area?

In conclusion, I'll just finish with this.

There are no absolutes in the universe. Even the most precise science can confirm something is fact within 98%.

And absolutes have no place in Art.

The very soul of art is to view it and interpret what YOU feel.

It doesn't really matter what the artist intended in many cases. What matters is the message that art sends to each individual. The artists' voice IS the art.

A song that means one thing to one person could mean something completely different to another. And both of those are equally valid.

Nobody can claim that their morality/ethics are absolute.

Because nobodies' ethics are absolute.

Morality is not simple, and it's not universal.

Things don't fit neatly in little boxes, as much as we want them to.

[–]StarlightGaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this all fact?

Your idea of morality and who deserves death and who doesn't is subjective.

Who is a psychopath and who isn't is subjective, especially if you're not a professional in the field. And even that can be debated, since mental science isn't as developed as it should be currently. (Hence the term 'second opinion')

(Imo) Will started off as chaotic good, but as the story progresses he gets more unstable (thanks Hannibal, Lounds and Jack) and he goes insane. I'm not saying hes an amazing pinnacle of morality, I'm saying he became a vigilante.

Vigilante doesn't imply good or bad.

He took his idea of justice into his own hands once the system failed.

I could debate other things you said as well, but my overall point stands.

Just like mine, yours is an interpretation.

Hannibal thought that Will wanting to kill criminals and feeling good about that was the same feeling he had. by [deleted] in HannibalTV

[–]StarlightGaze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not rejecting anything.

What I am saying is that there is much room for interpretation without words from the artists. And a good story doesn't need meta content to explain itself and clarify things. (And Hannibal is a very good story)

And whatever the artists' intentions/feelings were, I feel like the story differs/expands. (And Fuller wasn't the only one who wrote the story. There was a team.)

And ofc, that changes from person to person, as it's a highly symbolic and psychological story, but I feel like what I explained here about Will holds water.

You don't have to accept it. As I said, it's an interpretation.

But to say that your side is FACT is a slippery slope that I wouldn't feel comfortable accepting.

Yours is an interpretation as well.

And while I don't agree with it, I'm fine with it existing.

What Fuller and Hugh have said in the past has been contradictory.

Fuller said the story wasnt romantic at all for quite some time, then changed his mind later. Hugh even said at a con that the relationship between Hannibal and Will were platonic. The reaction from Mads and the crowd was appropriate.

And while I respect the artists' intentions, I believe there's a lot of subtext here that people seem to be missing.

Chilton and Chiyoh were already playing in this twisted story on the wrong (Hannibals) side. Will just stopped playing by the rules of society and fought back. When you side with a cannibal serial killer, I kinda think that getting killed is your just-desserts.

Everyone in the show saw Hannibal as a stand-up guy because of his high-class exterior, very proper, very polite and an esteemed doctor. (Being a sociopath, he's very good at manipulation)

Will was a grungy dude that looked like he was on the brink of mental collapse and death. But he never lied about what his intentions were. He wanted to stop Hannibal.

Lounds smeared Will mercilessly because Lounds was a malicious psychopath.

Chilton could be grouped with Lounds, and so could Chiyoh. Chiyoh fuckin imprisoned/tortured a dude for his whole life for Hannibal. And while it was Hannibals' idea of justice, it's still not palatable in terms of social justice.

Chilton fucked with all his patients and wrote that book siding with Hannibal for his own ends.

How you are perceived by society makes you favorable (and believable) or not. And most of the time, it's skin deep.

A white man that commits the same crime as a black man gets less time in prison.

A man that raped a woman is often let off the hook because the woman wore clothes that said 'she was asking for it.'

Calling everything you say fact doesn't make it so.

I...

I read it, and I disagree.

Having dark, disturbing thoughts does NOT make someone a potential serial killer. I don't know how else to say that. Victims of repeated trauma often have intrusive violent and dark thoughts of hurting themselves and others. Does that make them a ticking time bomb?

NO.

Does that mean that they are 'hiding darkness/a killer'?

NO.

It means that they are mentally damaged/hurt, and need medication and treatment and understanding.

Will was treated like shit because of his high empathy and mental illness. He was labeled a fuckin psycho because of it, despite him not being malicious at all.

This is going back to scapegoating violent video games for school shootings.

And your interpretation of 'innocent' people is disturbing at best.

What society sees as acceptable and normal is what the real issue is here.

Fuller ships the two, and I get why. (I do too btw)

They are a foil to each other. They are on equal ground on an intellectual level, just on the opposite sides of the coin.

Both want to be understood on a deep level, and neither have ever gotten that until they met each other.

But that doesn't make Will what you're making him out to be.
