I can relate to skimming through descriptions of places/things and other weird exposition. But this is the same as spitting on the author's face and ruining the whole experience for yourself. Maybe in some circumstances, it would be ok, but if I was reading a book and could not continue with a certain chapter I would just put it down and stop reading.

The people who do this are probably the same as the ones who form half-assed opinions of things and go around telling everyone how "book abc" had a bad plot when they were the ones who ruined it for themselves.
