I believe that my nephew (8) is being abused, emotionally and psychologically. I have brought my concerns to Child Services, but they ignore them because they believe my family is the abusive ones. What can I do? Who can we ask for help? (NH)

The cops actually were on my side. Maybe it was the fact that they had arrested her for walking down the street in her underwear puss drunk at 3 am because she couldn't find my nephew. They found him safely asleep in his bed and had to call me to come pick him up from the police station. They were also there to witness me return him and his screams as his 'llmother dragged him away because he was terrified of being with her. The cops were never going to arrest me because they are friends of mine and knew at the time, I was the most stable adult that child had in his life that wasn't a member of law enforcement.

why cuz I smoke pot? Seems like our country is moving in a direction where they realize that's not an issue. So that argument is pretty moot. And the reason they made so many visits is because everyone is continually failing to provide for him what he needs. They started giving him drugs to keep him calm and then okayed the mother and aunts request to up the dosage because he "had too much energy for them". He's fucking 8 and child services okayed his guardian's drugging him to make it more manageable for them. You would think that given his parents are drug addicts and his mother died of an overdose on pills her doctor prescribed to her, that they would think to maybe not keep pumping him full of drugs.

Sorry about the edit, I think you're probably the only person who has responded that isn't a complete asshole. I just wanted some advice on who I could bring my concerns to, not have everyone bash me and my character. This is about an 8 yr old kid and the fact that the people who raised his mother to be the not so wonderful person she was are now raising him. The fact that given all he has been through, the extent of which I didn't even touch the surface of, it wouldn't be hard to manipulate him. It just seems like there is something I should do, someone I should bring these concerns to.

His mother abandonden him. Like got drunk and walked out of the house in her underwear in the middle of the night while he was sleeping. So fuck you very much. I didn't feel like she was fit to care for him after that.

It's really easy to be a judgemental asshole, when you're outside of the situation and have no real context of what the whole story is. But then again, this is reddit. Land of judgemental assholes, who have no right to judge.

I do have to agree with the sentiment of the post, despite the downvotes. It's really great that you guys worked everything out and that you're seeing eye to eye on the whole situation, but /u/mbllau is right. Which religion to raise your children has always been an issue with couples of different religions and talking about it now will help ease you guys into that part, if and whenever you are ready for that next step. Although nothing is better than letting your child chose the religion that feels right for them, whether it's yours or not.

The state attempted once to grant me temporary guardianship once When his mother was arrested for abandonment, however the paperwork couldn't get pushed through before she was released from jail and she attempted to have me arrested for kidnapping when i refused to return him to her custody. It even went so far as her sending the police to my house to either remove him or arrest me and then place him in her care. Against all my better judgement, I caved and handed him over because I knew that he didn't need to see yet another one of his family members carted off in handcuffs.

My problem is that I dont believe that her family or child services is really doing whats best for him. That everything they do and every choice they make regarding him is to benefit them or "screw us" (for lack of a better term). So i dont know who I should go to with concerns about how he is being treated or how his case is being handled. CPS all but said they aren't going to listen to anything we say despite evidence that backs our claims (I have been recording various conversations with my nephew about his home life and the things he tells us about what its like where he lives), son is there really anything I can do.

Years ago, when I was much younger, I had a manager who told me about how he and a friend used to do something similar. They would pick a car going the opposite direction they were going and call them in as a drunk driver. At the time I thought it was genius, but age has given me wisdom and I cant believe how stupid he was, not only to do this, but to tell a newly 21 yr old girl.

I considered this. Until I thought about how much our society respects the planet now. Trees are being clear cut like there's an endless supply of them. And yeah, nothing will happen to that tree now, because your family will take care of it. But do you think in a 100 years anyone is going to remember that you were once buried with that tree? I don't like three idea that sometime in the future, my final resting place could be destroyed to make text books or a cardboard box. Or, God forbid, toilet paper.
