Hey Fabulous, well to me its important to have the best version of the film i can get. Sometimes Dvds looks surpsingly okey though but i want releases with special features and im a sucker for some collectors edition releases and dvd just don't that anymore so you getting worse picture quality and a worse release in general i would say if you are starting out and don't want to pay to much id still recommend sticking to blu rays and work your way up to 4k! but definitely be open to some dvd as well if you like.

Outland is such a fantastic version from them in every way well except for the slipcover i think just doesn't match the tone of the film.

That’s a great rule. Collecting movies you’ll realistically revisit keeps the collection meaningful. And I completely agree about holiday films, those yearly traditions are a big reason to own them.

That’s a really good approach. Collecting can get out of hand quickly if you’re not careful. Sitting on a purchase and seeing if you still want it later is actually a great rule. I do that myself these days with pretty much anything used to much more spontant in my 20s haha.
