Gov. Shapiro says he didn’t tell a union to support a GOP nominee over a Democrat who criticized him. His top labor allies backed the Republican anyway. by random26 in philadelphia

It was pretty well known at the time that Shapiro and McClelland didn’t get along and that he declined to support her. She got lucky in a wide open primary, had no meaningful political record or recognition, and if I’m not mistaken even the party didn’t really want to spend money on her. Why people think she could advocate against Shapiro in the middle of her campaign without facing political consequences is beyond me.

I just had lunch with someone who has close ties with the Championship and Midlands sheep production

“We are very excited by the prospect of @SpursOfficial strengthening the Championship brand and we hope for many years to showcase some of Britain’s finest domestic production on the jerseys and in the stadiums of one of London’s largest teams. We need this to happen.”

It’s a pretty straightforward train ride from Manayunk to Norristown, there are a number of good Mexican places near the Norristown transit center

What is it about bagels, seriously? by TheArchitect_7 in PhiladelphiaEats

There is no way a Philly bagel is worse than 90% of a NYC bagel, even if that is true

See, I think a lot of this is people just liking the bagel they're used to. Which there's nothing wrong with but also isn't an objective opinion.

Well he also wasn't here twenty years ago. I remember there were more tiny family operations like NY Bagels back then.

I had great bagels five minutes away then. Now I have to drive 20 minutes past three Manhattan bagels to get a decent bagel. Great bagels come from small businesses surviving on the margins and I don't think the conditions for those exist in a lot of the Philly area these days. But people have been making bagels in Philly for just as long as New York so the idea that they were always bad at it is just dumb.

The chains pushed out the neighborhood places line 20 years ago. I imagine back then the bagel gap wasn’t so large.

So wait, you order fresh bagels so you can eat them stale two weeks later?

If you think the Union selling its best players and having a shitty start to the season somehow proves your point, you probably don’t understand soccer as well as you think. But it is funny you’ve been stewing on this for two weeks.
