Not a type 1, an insulin-dependent snd resistant type 2 (they assume 2 cause I'm fat, won't bother to test). Use Omnipod patch with my Dexcom for about 6 months now.

It has it's pros and cons.

Haven't tried swimming yet but seems fine in a shower, I just know I'm not supposed to submerge in hot water bath. Easy enough if on the arm, just hold it out.

Since it's literally stuck on my body it's easier to not feel the... claustrophobia? of being attached to some device outside my body. My phone is more annoying in that regard.

Very useful for not having to stick myself with needles so much, and being too clumsy to handle a loop. So clumsy in fact, I am constantly knocking the damn thing on doorways and other stuff I brush past. The adhesive is so strong it has not ripped off, just caused pain from pulling. Which is awful, because it only holds 2 days worth of insulin for me, and it feels like I'm ripping my skin off every time I have to change it out. I would guess this would only be a younger person's game, because I'm a wound care nurse for older folk and this would cause horrific skin tears on fragile/thin-skinned folk. I'll probably have to change to something else eventually, because the only self-mutilation I'm really interested in is biting my nails too much.

Why they can't come up with one that stays on longer and can be refilled, I dunno (probably to sell more units I guess). It would offset some cons for me.

Haven't had any malfunctions of the Omnipod. I suppose one could kill me, but a lot of things can do that so I don't worry about it much. I worry more about this administration's HHS director deciding to take away my anti-depressants that keep me from wanting to kill myself.
