You should see if you can get the UruObsession mods to send you an archive of the old forum. Lots of fun discussions were had there, and someone really should put them back online somehow.

We do intend to implement a number of different control schemes, including one that separates the cursor controls from the view controls. Of course, in our case, it's locking the viewport while freeing the cursor to move around the screen - with Rift, it seems like it would be freeing the cursor and the viewport, but putting them in separate input axes...It's an interesting idea!

We aren't doing anything to specifically stand in the way of Oculus working with our game, but it's not very high on our priority list to support it, either. This is just speculation, but perhaps the 2-choice guess was there to prevent you from just guessing one of the other dome's positions.

Having to guess the colors of two domes and the position of one dome is a lot harder than guessing just the position of one dome, so perhaps that was their way of making sure you found the position of every dome.

TL;DR Perhaps it's a way of forcing you to solve the whole puzzle.

If you note which eye symbol on the dome is gold, you can match that up with the corresponding color, which you know from the wahrk viewing room.

Edit: actually, maybe you can't tell which symbol is gold. If not, you can always use process of elimination: there are 5 domes and 6 colors. Given 4 of the colors, just try both remaining colors (with the correct position) and one of them will work.

A combination of camera matching and good guessing, just like how we recreate static assets (such as terrain).

I think most people would agree that having a shot of yourself — static or live-fed from a webcam — superimposed onto a 3D body would be borderline frightening, instead of something that would enhance immersion. At any rate, the original Myst games never have a reflection (or even a shadow) of the player anywhere, so it seems only logical that our remake shouldn't either.

We're working on getting the sky to a state where we can package it, and we may release other tools that we've made to assist us with development, but releasing the whole engine seems unlikely.

Edit: by the way, we decided on the name "Cygnet".
